I'm irritable and I have a good reason for being irritable. Around the beginning of the month, this blog was penalized by Google in the search engine rankings and I'm clueless. I'm guessing it's probably something as simple as a matter of perception.

In part one of "The UV SEO Series", I introduced the series. In part two, I wrote about having one website address. In part three, I wrote about internal linking strategies. Today, I'm going to emphasize meta descriptions and meta tags.

Before I begin, I'll tell you up front that I'm not a search engine optimization (SEO) expert of any kind. I've tested everything I'll be telling you to do and I've spent more than six months experimenting to find out what works and what doesn't. My blog now ranks on the first page of Google's and Yahoo's search engine result pages (SERPS), and is starting to rank well on the others, for hundreds of keywords, some with extremely short tails and even a few single-word keywords. Don't worry, I'll explain what all of it means as we go along.

Over the past week or so, I've purposely avoided writing about news items and other things that have kept me in a perpetual state of "pissed off".

Do you ever feel like your rowing a boat upstream or climbing a hill that never ends? That's what I feel like sometimes. Well, I took 2 days off from posting anything at all so that I could put things in perspective. Usually when I take time off from posting, it's because I don't have a choice due to power outages or a lack of DSL connectivity. This is one of the few times I purposely didn't write anything.
Not only did I not write anything, I refrained from responding to comments and email messages as much as I could. I don't normally do that either. In order to see where I stand, I needed to ignore as many things as I could get away with ignoring.

I was asked to beta test a new advertising service called TextAdMarket. This advertising service is very, very new. As with any new service in the beta-testing stage, this one isn't without its share of problems. There are very few members using it right now and fewer is better until the bugs are eliminated from their system. It has only been live for a little over a week.

If you think what I've done in the past is amusing, you should see what I'm going to be doing next. It's going to be confusing unless you've been following along.
It's no secret that I'm having trouble keeping up with 3 blogs. Power outages, DSL connectivity problems, bad weather and a whole host of things I have no control over make it hard to keep up with just this one. I have a plan and a lot of you may believe it's a step backward while I believe it's a step forward.

Two days ago, I survived yet another nerve-wracking trip to and from Metro Manila. Of all the places I've been here, I dislike Manila, Philippines the most.
I left here on Wednesday morning at approximately 6:30 am and arrived at the American Embassy at about 9 am. The stretch from Olongapo City to San Fernando in Pampanga is annoying and the slowest part of the journey, but it's not really dangerous. Traveling through Manila after leaving the Northern Luzon Expressway, is the part that terrifies me.

Before I do something silly and completely reasonable and explain the meaning of the post title, I want to impart to you some of my infinite (and often misguided) wisdom. Getting to number one in the search results (SERPS) of any search engine is easy. Getting to number one in the SERPS for a word or a phrase that people are actually searching for is hard, extremely hard. Unless you're working a particular niche, results can be unexpected.

Have you ever sold a blog? Are you thinking of selling one? What do you expect from the sale? What does the buyer expect? Questions and more questions. I can answer a few of the questions in my own inimitable way, but I can't answer all of them because I've never sold a blog nor do I ever intend to do so.
