Jollibee: Another Philippines Success Story
The first success story I wrote about involved Arnel Pineda and Journey. The Jollibee Philippines success story goes back much further. In fact, it all started in 1975.

In 2005, I made a conscious decision to move to the Philippines permanently. It wasn't until after I arrived in April of 2006 that I decided to make Olongapo City my home. Many factors led up to both decisions, some of which are too personal to write about. Here's a little history for you.
I was sitting on a curb, drinking my morning coffee about a hundred meters down the hill from my house when an electrically-charged, transparent orb appeared in the middle of the street. As it faded away, a naked man appeared who looked suspiciously like Arnold Schwarzenegger. I was shocked when I saw him punch the lights out of nearby Filipino, just to take his clothing from him. I'll bet you didn't know there were Filipinos as large as Arnold. Well, there are.
Today is me and my wife's 22nd wedding anniversary. If you take into account the number of marriages that fail within the first few years and couple it with the fact that I'm Caucasian and my wife is Filipino, you can say that we tremendously beat the odds. Don't ask me for marriage advice though, because I really can't tell you how we beat those odds.
My older son is 26 years-old. He is my adopted stepson. He was 2 years-old when I and his mother met and 5 years-old when the adoption went through. Right now, he's in Germany with his wife who's in the US Air Force. I received an email message from him earlier this morning. My younger son is 21 years-old and going to college at the Global City College on SBMA. He's at school right now.
We don't have anything planned for our anniversary this year. We don't plan to do much of anything with our anniversaries until our 25th in three years. The silver anniversary will probably include something unusual, but I don't know what it is yet.
Having said all that, I'm probably going to spend the rest of the day away from the computer and with my wife, doing the things that she enjoys.
