My Movie and Television Program List

Over the course of my lifetime, I've watched many movies and television programs. I don't remember all of the titles, especially those I watched when I was young (the 1960s). I want to remember most of what I've watched because some of it has influenced me in one way or another. This page is an attempt to document what I consider worth remembering and anything not worth remembering will not appear here. It's starting as an alphabetical list (except for sequels, prequels and movie series) and may change into something more when it becomes too large. I'll be adding to the list until it's complete (which will probably be never).

I have some movies and television programs listed or described on specific posts and I won't intentionally be repeating them here. Check out these posts:

MOVIES

The Amazing Colossal Man (1957)

A military officer gets nuked by a plutonium bomb blast, survives burns on most of his body and grows to 50 feet before his heart (which is growing slower) causes him to go insane. He is in the process of destroying Las Vegas before he's stopped.

American Pie (1999)
American Pie 2 (2001)
American Wedding (2003)

Four teenage boys make a pact to lose their virginity by prom night. I don't remember if they were successful, but one of the four ended up marrying the girl who took his virginity from him. The first three movies are hilarious but the straight-to-DVD movies that follow are not worth watching.

Batman (1966)

A theatrical movie episode based on the Batman TV series aired from 1966 to 1968.

Batman (1989)
Batman Returns (1992)
Batman Forever (1995)
Batman & Robin (1997)
Catwoman (2004)

The first batch of "modern" Batman movies. Catwoman was a spin-off of "Batman Returns" that didn't fare too well with the critics, but I found it entertaining enough for my indiscriminate tastes.

Batman Begins (2005)
The Dark Knight (2008)

The second batch of modern Batman movies. These are much better than the first batch.

Click (2006)

Adam Sandler's character obtains a remote control which allows him to fast-forward past the slow parts of his life. It's a comedy with a moral to the story, aided by Christopher Walken as an angel.

Evolution (2001)

A firefighting cadet, two college professors, and a geeky-but-sexy government scientist work against an alien organism that has been rapidly evolving ever since its arrival on Earth inside a meteor. Who would have thought that a commonly-used shampoo was the key to the survival of the human race?

The Frighteners (1996)

After a car accident which kills his wife, Frank Bannister (Michael J. Fox) develops psychic abilities allowing him to see, hear, and communicate with ghosts. This is a fun thriller, one of my favorites. Maybe I get a kick out of seeing him die two times in one film.

Galaxy Quest (1999)

The original cast of a cult space TV series have to play their roles as the real thing when an alien race needs their help. This comedy is almost a parody of the original cast of Star Trek.

Iron Man (2008)

The movie origin of the comic book superhero of the same name.

Knowing (2009)

It took me a while to figure out that this apocalyptic movie about the Earth burning up is more about the lead character (Nicolas Cage) getting his faith back than anything else, and not nearly as obvious as it is in Signs (2002).

Signs (2002)

It takes a failed alien invasion (and memories of his wife's dying words) to make a priest (Mel Gibson) regain his lost faith.

Star Trek (2009)

In the year 2233, the USS Kelvin investigates a lightning storm in space, which the crew soon realizes is a black hole. A massive Romulan vessel (the "Narada") emerges and creates an alternate time line. This was about 25 years before James T. Kirk of the original Star Trek series entered Star Fleet Academy. None of the future plots will be exactly like the original plots, even if they're remakes.

Zombieland (2009)

A fun movie about zombie-like people (because they aren't dead yet) infected with "mad people disease". They behave like cannibals, except they only attack people who aren't infected. One of the characters (Woody Harrelson) is willing to risk his life for a Twinkie, which he seems to have trouble finding.

TELEVISION

Batman (1966-1968)

A campy TV series based of the Batman and Robin comic book superheroes. It still airs as syndicated reruns on select TV stations.

Star Trek (1966-1969)

The adventures of the USS Enterprise, representing the United Federation of Planets on a five-year mission to explore strange new worlds, seek out new life and new civilizations, and to boldly go where no man has gone before. This is the television series that started the Star Trek Universe and it still airs as syndicated reruns on select TV stations.

UFO (1970-1973)

A British spy agency attempts to stop aliens from invading Earth. I don't remember much of it but I know a lot of the sets were used for Space 1999 (1975-1977), a television series I couldn't stand to watch.
