My Movie and Television Program List

Over the course of my lifetime, I've watched many movies and television programs. I don't remember all of the titles, especially those I watched when I was young (the 1960s). I want to remember most of what I've watched because some of it has influenced me in one way or another. This page is an attempt to document what I consider worth remembering and anything not worth remembering will not appear here. It's starting as an alphabetical list (except for sequels, prequels and movie series) and may change into something more when it becomes too large. I'll be adding to the list until it's complete (which will probably be never).

I have some movies and television programs listed or described on specific posts and I won't intentionally be repeating them here. Check out these posts:

MOVIES

The Amazing Colossal Man (1957)

A military officer gets nuked by a plutonium bomb blast, survives burns on most of his body and grows to 50 feet before his heart (which is growing slower) causes him to go insane. He is in the process of destroying Las Vegas before he's stopped.

American Pie (1999)
American Pie 2 (2001)
American Wedding (2003)

Four teenage boys make a pact to lose their virginity by prom night. I don't remember if they were successful, but one of the four ended up marrying the girl who took his virginity from him. The first three movies are hilarious but the straight-to-DVD movies that follow are not worth watching.

Batman (1966)

A theatrical movie episode based on the Batman TV series aired from 1966 to 1968.

Batman (1989)
Batman Returns (1992)
Batman Forever (1995)
Batman & Robin (1997)
Catwoman (2004)

The first batch of "modern" Batman movies. Catwoman was a spin-off of "Batman Returns" that didn't fare too well with the critics, but I found it entertaining enough for my indiscriminate tastes.

Batman Begins (2005)
The Dark Knight (2008)

The second batch of modern Batman movies. These are much better than the first batch.

Click (2006)

Adam Sandler's character obtains a remote control which allows him to fast-forward past the slow parts of his life. It's a comedy with a moral to the story, aided by Christopher Walken as an angel.

Deja Vu (2006)

A US ATF agent travels back in time to save a woman from being murdered, falling in love with her during the process.

Donnie Darko (2001)

A troubled teenager is plagued by visions of a large rabbit that manipulates him to commit a series of crimes, after narrowly escaping a bizarre accident. A disturbing movie.

Evolution (2001)

A firefighting cadet, two college professors, and a geeky-but-sexy government scientist work against an alien organism that has been rapidly evolving ever since its arrival on Earth inside a meteor. Who would have thought that a commonly-used shampoo was the key to the survival of the human race?

The Forbidden Kingdom (2008)

A discovery made by a kung fu obsessed American teen sends him on an ancient adventure to China, where he joins up with a band of martial arts warriors in order to free the imprisoned Monkey King.

The Frighteners (1996)

After a car accident which kills his wife, Frank Bannister (Michael J. Fox) develops psychic abilities allowing him to see, hear, and communicate with ghosts. This is a fun thriller, one of my favorites. Maybe I get a kick out of seeing him die two times in one film.

Galaxy Quest (1999)

The original cast of a cult space TV series have to play their roles as the real thing when an alien race needs their help. This comedy is almost a parody of the original cast of Star Trek.

Independence Day (1996)

Aliens invaded. A Marine pilot and an MIT geek took them out. Need I say more?

Iron Man (2008)

The movie origin of the comic book superhero of the same name.

Next (2007)

An interesting story of a psychic hunted by the US federal government because he could see into the near future.

Signs (2002)

It takes a failed alien invasion (and memories of his wife's dying words) to make a priest (Mel Gibson) regain his lost faith.

Short Circuit (1986)

A prototype robot is struck by lightning and brought to life.

Slither (2006)

Aliens invade, trying to take over human bodies. You'll see this description more than once.

Stargate (1994)

An interstellar teleportation device, found in Egypt, leads to a planet with humans resembling ancient Egyptians who worship the god Ra. This was the basis for the multiple TV series with "Stargate" in the title.

Star Trek (2009)

In the year 2233, the USS Kelvin investigates a lightning storm in space, which the crew soon realizes is a black hole. A massive Romulan vessel (the "Narada") emerges and creates an alternate time line. This was about 25 years before James T. Kirk of the original Star Trek series entered Star Fleet Academy. None of the future plots will be exactly like the original plots, even if they're remakes.

Tron (1982)

A programmer, attempting to access data stolen from him, is digitized and transported to the virtual reality of a game grid. With the help of Tron, a game character based on a real world user, Flynn manages to escape and return to the real world.

TELEVISION

Batman (1966-1968)

A campy TV series based of the Batman and Robin comic book superheroes. It still airs as syndicated reruns on select TV stations.

Battlestar Galactica (1978-1979)
Galactica 1980 (1980-1981)
Battlestar Galactica (2003-2009)

The last major Colonial fighter carrier leads a makeshift fleet of human refugees on a desperate search for the legendary planet Earth. The last title is a remake and started as a miniseries for the first year and was picked up as a regular series in 2004.

Lost in Space (1965-1968)

The tale of the futuristic space family Robinson (set in the 1990s, no longer the future) unable to return to Earth. It started out as a serious enough series in the first season and then degraded to campiness for the remainder.

Quantum Leap (1989-1993)

Dr. Sam Beckett screwed up during an experiment and now leaps from body to body, of people who lived within his lifetime, and can't leap again until he sets something right.

Star Trek (1966-1969)

The adventures of the USS Enterprise, representing the United Federation of Planets on a five-year mission to explore strange new worlds, seek out new life and new civilizations, and to boldly go where no man has gone before. This is the television series that started the Star Trek Universe and it still airs as syndicated reruns on select TV stations.

Sliders (1995-2000)

A great show about parallel Earths in the beginning. Around the third or fourth season, it turned into something stupid. The first two seasons (maybe three) are worth watching.

Stargate SG-1 (1997-2007)
Stargate: Atlantis (2004-2009)

The US Air Force battles aliens in the Milky Way and in the Pegasus galaxy (with the aid of a civilian expedition). The latest series installment is just getting off the ground and it's more akin to "Lost in Space" than it is to either of these series.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (2008-2009)

A slow story in the "Terminator" sequence of events, which takes place between the second and third movies. It was canceled just when the story started to get good, in my opinion.
