I hate politics, I really do. Until today, I didn’t even know what it meant and I looked it up. It basically means “the art and science of government”. Really? I don’t see anything artistic or scientific about any kind of government entity.
I originally wrote this article on March 19, 2007, and my opinions haven’t changed. I’ve updated it to reflect exactly what I think — as of today.
I’ll be honest; I can’t tell you the difference between a Republican and a Democrat or a liberal and a conservative, other than what someone else has defined them as. I once took one of those online tests to determine where I stood in politics and it came back with “centrist”, whatever the hell that means.
Whenever someone starts talking to me about politics, the little voice in my head tells me, “Let’s get away from this person”. I’m serious. I would rather bounce my head against a brick wall or chew on rocks. I don’t know why people insist that I listen!
When I go to visit a website, especially when it’s a personal site, I do not expect to be assaulted by politics. I can handle almost anything else, including horrible videos on YouTube. I think there should be a rule or something that if you’re going to devote every other article to politics that you have a banner at the top of your page that says something to indicate it’s all about politics so that I can be on my merry way and find another place to visit.
The unfortunate part about all this is that even I, the politics-hating person that I am, can get suckered into playing along in the politics game. When that happens, I am incredibly furious with myself for being so gullible. I’m not talking about voting for a political candidate; I’m talking about the act of talking about it. I can deal with a simple opinion being asked of me, but please do not ask me to elaborate further. Politicians make me want to vomit. As I have always said, there are four kinds of liars: Liars, damn liars, lawyers and politicians. If there were to be survivors of a nuclear holocaust, it would be the politicians, not the cockroaches.
I use to listen to Air America talk radio on my way to work and before I slept. I ended up having to stop that as I would get in such a pissed off mood.
Even had someone the other day call me a “terrorist supporter” because I feel that there should be a different path taken in Iraq, one that keeps our troops more out of harms way.
I was trying to remember the name of that. Thanks! I listened to “The Savage Nation” before the radio station I listened to switched to Air America. I didn’t listen for the politics — Michael Savage was hilarious. As soon as the station, KXEM, switched to Air America, I stopped listening to that station. My long trips home became so much longer.

Hm.. hopefully you’ll find your away around the politics posts then whenever you happen upon my blog. There is other stuff there :-D
As long as it isn’t EVERY OTHER POST, I’ll be okay. I had to write this article because out of kindness, I visited a blogger that had linked to me somehow. Almost every post within a 7-day period was political Bush-bashing in one way or another. A definite turn off.
As if there are any less problems in my own life: a divorce, diabetes, stress, head-aches, family problems, financial mess, a pending legal case. Reading the newspaper only exacerbates this condition. I recently took a conscious decision to TOTALLY AVOID any interest in politics; as an individual belonging to a disadvantaged minority, I’m too powerless to change things around me. Reading about injustice to others used to make me hate the whole world the sensitive person that I am.
I’ve finally redeemed my life by avoiding newspapers, news channels etc. And I’m very happy now.
I hate politics too. I can’t stand the extreme left and right. I have worked with people before where you say “Nice day outside” and they will either reply “Republicans are ruining the world man, Global warming is worse under Bush…” or “Democrat Gore lied about global warming in his dumb film.”… I usually just roll my eyes and walk off and I either get called a Republican or Democrat accordingly.
Anyway, I don’t vote, I don’t even watch the news anymore and I tell people when they start puking Limbaugh or Al Franken drool my way that I am not interested in it. I try to avoid people that are only willing to talk politics. I’ve gotta be honest, I have never been happier and less stressed out in my life than I am now.

People put too much trust in governments. It’s not healthy or an answer to anything.
I see all these worn out Bush/Chaney bumper stickers on people’s cars from the old election. It makes me think: “See, that person once believed in those men, and look where we all are.” And it could have been their opposing candidates that won, but the results we see today would still be the same.
Politics are overrated and lame. They also fall under the category of useless and worthless. Anyone who says other wise better comeback with some good and awesome results to back up their statements.

I do understand though and I try as hard as I can to not post about politics too often for exactly that reason and I certainly don’t bash politicians!

do you understand anything about geopolitics, or muslim culture or iraq or anything except what the news tells you? do you know what whahhabism is, or who takfiri’s are, who waht eretz israel is? didn’t think so.
I have to be honest, I’m addicted to politics. I have tried to go cold turkey but I relapse every time I turn on the TV. I devoted my blog to politics so I could get it out of my system on line and stop driving my friends crazy with my rantings about politicians. They are all most certainly liars, damn liars and I think most of them are also lawyers.

i agree with you all the way i hate politics to the reason y i hate politics because it’s all about power loads of people fighting over a bunch of land for what! don’t even say to make it a better place because i may be fifteen (i live in liverpool which is in england and i aint posh) but every time theres a new president or prime minister the world just gets crappier and crappier so all the way brother im with you about hating politics.

Yeah, politics suck, I agree, but they’re a necessary evil. I love politics, but at the same time I hate them. They interest me, but there’s so much conflict and partisan crap that leads to it all becoming quite an annoyance. Despite this, the cornerstone of democracy and your right to not care about politics lies in your ability to fight for your rights to think what you do, which means at least reading up on a few political things and formulating your own opinions on it. You don’t even have to decide what political party you are or anything, just do a few minutes of research into an issue, decide what you think about it, and find the candidate(s) who have the most similar views. Otherwise, please hand me your right to vote. And consider handing me your freedom of speech, the press, expression, and anything else that you value. Your right to hate politics depends on your learning about it and accepting that you need to play a part… Or you could just not vote and let me determine what happens to your rights for you, I always like power and collecting your tax dollars… And maybe I can steal some of your cookies from the cookie jar while I’m at it! Yum, cookies!
I totally understand what you are complaining about, I hate ‘em all as well. I just can’t get over it that we have chosen them to stand for our rights but they only consider their own avid needs.
Me too, now days it become Headache. Political leader feel they are smarter than other nation and these totally wrong.
The line about four different types of liars was really funny but sadly it is the truth. I don’t know what to say to such people. Politicians are selected to help people but they end up helping only themselves with the tax payers money. Very second day you can read about some or the other scandal. It is really heartbreaking.
You know the most depressing thing today is trying to decide who to vote and not come up with an answer, that too even after thinking and debating on that for months together. Whats more pathetic is I am not making a decision based on who is better then the other but who is less evil and corrupt. That is how miserable politicians have become. All the criminals have joined politics.
There was a time when we used to say the name of our country’s presidents with respect. We thought they were next to god and could nothing wrong. But taking into consideration the recent events that took place it is like are they even human!! They are corrupt to the core and are self centered. They don’t care about anything but earning more money and power. I am with you on this topic I hate politics too.
