I am not normally inclined to pay any attention to conspiracy theories, but relatively recent events involving assault rifles and other guns, followed by the responses of the US government, has to make you wonder what’s going on. Gun control laws don’t work and will never work to reduce the number of crimes committed with guns and the reason is really quite simple: Criminals don’t obey gun control laws to begin with.
Gun-Related Massacres in the United States
It’s easy to forget the massacres in the US of the past year and past decade if it isn’t a local event. Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on how you look at it, mainstream media reports on every event like this at a national level. One of the travesties of reporting the news for profit is that only the sensational or horrific events seem to ever get noticed and reported.
We should all be familiar with the Columbine High School massacre of 1999, the Capitol Hill massacre of 2006, the Virginia Tech massacre of 2007, the Colorado Movie Theater massacre of 2012 and the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre of 2012, but these were just a few of the gun-related incidents that occurred. You haven’t heard about the massacres that were aborted or defeated and you probably never will because it isn’t sensational news.
Gun Control Laws in the Making
You should already be aware of a small arms treaty the Obama administration is trying to work out with the United Nations: “After Obama win, U.S. backs new U.N. arms treaty talks”
It’s odd that two prominent massacres have taken place since the first of the talks over the treaty began.
What worries me the most about any proposed gun control laws is the government’s desire to maintain a database of all registered gun owners. History has shown that the easiest way to turn citizens into servants is by confiscating their guns and a centralized database would make it way too easy for the US government to repeat that history.
I’m sorry if you don’t agree with me, but most gun control laws are clear violations of the second amendment of the US Constitution, getting passed by legislators simply because no one has the power or the money to fight them in a court of law. The whole reason the amendment exists is to allow citizens to defend themselves against a tyrannical government. You obviously can’t do that if you’re not allowed to have anything but “an approved weapon” in your possession. Is it a stretch of the imagination to think that one gun control law can lead to another, especially if mainstream media publicizes every massacre in real time?
Whether it’s a conspiracy or not, the fact that the president is even considering an executive order to bypass the US Congress and the 2nd Amendment is frightening to me and it should be frightening to you as well. Anything of this nature would only affect law-abiding citizens and not the people who don’t obey the laws to begin with.
I don’t think it’s conspiracy theory.
Maybe at the individual level, those who support these control movements want to get to a certain point and stop, but at the macro level I think an all-across-the-board ban is the final destination. Anything claiming otherwise is hard to take as anything other than a violation of 2nd Amendment rights.
Recently I’ve heard this argument “the 2nd Amendment was written pertaining to muskets and single fire weapons!”… which is equally ridiculous. I tend to keep my mouth shut when I hear these arguments (usually) because they always tend to be extremely polarized – where neither side changes their mind even marginally. But I suspect it comes from a poor understanding of why the 2nd Amendment was written in at all.
You know how I feel about this issue. Yes you do.
Have a terrific day. :)
This trend just keeps continuing, it’s really sad unfortunately. There have been too many events recently to overlook – there has to be something larger going on. Part of me just hopes the executive order and/or legislation gets passed so this will all be over.
I really don’t have a problem with violent felons or legally insane persons not being able to own guns. I worry about where that road leads though…
