Disadvantages of Windows Registry Repair Programs

The most effective way of cleaning your computer registry is by using a registry repair program. After using your computer for a while, there is an accumulation of redundant files, which fill up your registry and slows down your system. These programs scan your registry and clean up any unwanted files or keys. However, some disadvantages come with the use of these programs.

Most Windows registry repair programs cannot make a distinction between important and useless files. You may end up losing critical programs in your registry that are important to the functioning of your computer. The software may also make unwanted alterations to your program files, thus negatively affecting their functionality.

It is hard to tell a good registry cleaning program from a fake one. The internet is awash with malware and antiviruses disguised as Windows XP register repair software. Such programs alter files in your system, therefore interfering with your computer or can even cause your computer to crash. Genuine registry cleaning software can also not detect or eliminate viruses in your registry. Their function is limited to cleaning up redundant files.

There are keys that can only be deleted by special utility programs. Registry repair software therefore may not do the job for you 100 percent. You may think that you have cleaned up your registry but in a real sense, most of the unwanted programs that are causing you problems are still intact. Investment in registry cleaners may turn out to be a waste of time and money.

As technology continues to change, registry cleaners become more and more redundant. Currently, most people are operating on either Windows Vista or Windows 7, Windows XP registry repair software is of no use. A Windows registry cleaner can be of use to your computer system but use it only if you really have to because it can come with flaws of its own.

There are some good registry cleaners out there. You just have to find one that backs up your registry files before it deletes them. Just for safety purposes.

Couldn't agree more with your first point. I used registry cleaner on my laptop when I started to have some crashing issues. For someone like me that is not familiar with all the operational system technicalities, the registry cleaner just made it worst as some of critical programs stopped working as well. Eventually, as I could not fix the problems, I had to purchase another laptop and start from fresh.

Personally, I think the main disadvantage of registry cleaner programs like SpeedyPC Pro Review is the fact that they're just registry cleaner programs. Many of them lack any of functionality outside of that, so they can be somewhat limited. Though there are a few here and there that come with antivirus capabilities as part of the package. The reality is that your going to need a malware remover, antivirus software, firewall software, spyware remover and a registry cleaner program on your system at all times to ensure its always safe and running at optimal speeds.
