Hip hop music is something that I've ignored, for the most part, for the last 30 years. Yes, it's been around that long. For the last couple of years, however, listening to it really hasn't been an option since I'm forced to listen to hip hop music of all kinds around every corner here in the Philippines.

Ever since I mentioned Journey's discovery of Arnel Pineda, I've been following along to see how things transpire for him.
Articles of Interest
Someone went through great effort to build a nice Wikipedia page on Arnel Pineda and included recent news about his involvement with Journey.

This is a popular video of the inmates at the prison in Cebu, Philippines practicing a dance number for Michael Jackson's "Thriller". Maybe it isn't as productive as someone might want, but at least the inmates aren't getting into trouble!

I have been a fan of The Police since the early eighties when I first heard them on the radio. I collected all their music on cassette tapes (you remember those, right?) and then later on compact disc. As my older son grew up, he borrowed a lot of my music to listen in his room and all of the discs eventually got scratched and unplayable. As much as I loved their music, I couldn't picture myself hunting down and buying the CDs all over again. Imagine my surprise when I found out a new album was released on June 5, 2007, called "The Police: The Definitive Police Collection". It contains 28 of the best tracks The Police ever recorded in a 2-CD set.
You can find a lot of current information about The Police by clicking: Police CD. If you want more information as well as samples of their music, I have included an image below that you can click on.
Please click on this to go and view an awesome banner where you can watch The Police's videos, listen to tracks from The Police's new 2 CD hits collection, enter to win a trip to NYC to see The Police in concert and even view details about their current world tour.

When you arrive there and after the banner finishes loading, just hover over the square with the word "ROLLOVER" at the beginning to see a list of:
- Videos – Clicking on this will present you with eight videos to choose from right now.
- Track List / Jukebox – Clicking on this will present you with a scrolling menu which contains the track listings as well as cover art. Three of the songs can be played right now.
- Tour – Clicking on this will open a new page which shows their current tour news and world tour schedule.
- Enter The Contest – Click on this and then click on "ENTER TO WIN".
- Send To Friend – Click on this and fill in the blanks to send the information to a friend.
- Ringtones – Clicking on this will open a new page where you can purchase the corresponding ringtones for the album.
I plan to buy the 2-CD collection to replace the scratched CDs I had to throw away. If you're an eighties music fan like I am, you owe it to yourself to get these CDs for your own collection. An eighties collection of music isn't complete without the hits from The Police!

When I was growing up in the 60s and 70s, everyone's kitchen seemed to contain at least one cast iron skillet. Slowly but surely, these skillets were replaced with the Teflon-coated monstrosities that are sold in nearly every department store in the US today.
My wife has gone through at least 20 or 30 of the Teflon skillets since we were married in 1985. Before we left the US in 2006 and after we had been visiting at my parents' house, we went searching for the cast iron skillets. We wanted something to send ahead of us to the Philippines that we knew would last for a long time. We were not successful in finding even one in the many department stores of Phoenix.
Since my wife is working in the US right now and our crappy Teflon "nonstick" skillet now causes everything to stick, I decided to scour the Internet to see where I could find some decent cast iron skillets. After Googling the term "cast iron skillet", I found myself at the Wikipedia page for cast iron cookware. Checking brands, I saw that "Lodge" was a manufacturer still making them in the US. I checked their site at Lodge Manufacturing and saw how low the prices were. I then checked DealTime to see which stores carry them. I was surprised that JCPenney carried them. It was the one department store I and my wife always stayed away from. I don't know if it was because they had higher prices or just because they didn't carry much of what we couldn't find elsewhere.
She's going to be shipping a box to us in a month, so I'm going to have my wife buy at least one skillet to add to the shipment.
