Today, the 25th of January, is my 25th Wedding Anniversary

Yes, today is the 25th wedding anniversary for me and my wife and it happens to occur on our wedding anniversary, the 25th of January. Things didn't turn out the way we planned because she stayed in the US too long and we paid more in medical bills and other things that we didn't count on.

A Wedding Reception in My Back Yard

This past Saturday (December 19th), my wife's youngest sister (Darlene, called Nene) finally got married and had a traditional Catholic wedding, followed by a wedding reception that was held in my back yard. She's either 31 or 32-years old — I always forget which year she was born.

Lucky Number Seven isn't always a Lucky Number

seven Over the course of history, the number seven has been considered a lucky number for various reasons. It shows up frequently in ancient religious scriptures, in literature and mythology, and even in mathematics. Slot machines use number 7 as the gambler's lucky number and gamblers buy into it all the time, sinking their life savings into the "one-armed bandits". As far as my wife's family (her mother and siblings) are concerned, seven is an unlucky number. In a culture where superstition plays a part in daily lives, what I'm about to say shouldn't make you wonder why.

We will be Adopting a Child – our Newborn Niece

breastfeeding infant My youngest niece, on my wife's side of the family, was born on the 29th of September. She's the daughter of Armen (my brother-in-law, or bayaw) and Corazon (his wife, or my bilas). I ended up footing the hospital bill for the childbirth because the parents failed to pay the health insurance premiums. Unveiling My Master Plan

Pinky: "Gee, Brain. What are we going to do tonight?"
Brain: "The same thing we do every night, Pinky. Try to take over the world."

Okay, well, it's not quite like that. Although Brain (of "Pinky and the Brain") was persistent in trying to achieve that single, solitary goal, I actually have several goals that require persistence. I'll preface my diatribe by stating that I won't tell you about all of them. I hate having to eat my own words.

How Much Time Do YOU Spend in the Bathroom?

toilet It doesn't matter what you call it. I call it a bathroom, but others call it things like: Water closet, restroom, lavatory, toilet, washroom, comfort room, latrine, head, john, can and so on and so on. The fact that the room where you bathe or relieve yourself is called by so many names shows us how important it is in our daily lives.

I recently stumbled across a website for a company in Phoenix, Arizona called PrettyPottys.com and it reminded me of way too many experiences in using these facilities in places I would never call home.

I Failed the Rorschach Test

Rorschach blot According to the Rorschach test administrators, there is no right or wrong answer when describing what an ink blot looks like. Then how could I fail the test? It's simple: All I saw were ink blots. I saw nothing to indicate birds, bats, butterflies or any other such nonsense.
