RSS Feeds: China Airlines — The Most Popular Thing about the People's Republic of China
Being the curious type, I wanted to find out what people searched for in relation to the People's Republic of China, also known as just China or even PRC. I used "Google Insights for Search" to find out. It's an amazing tool, even though it isn't perfect (it only analyzes Google's search results — and there really ARE other search engines available). Anyway, I'm not going to tell you the criteria I used because that would just make you lazy. In my opinion, the results were astounding.
China Airlines
When I searched the results for the whole world, China Airlines came out on top. Is it because they have the cheapest international flights of all the international carriers?
It seems to me that one of the original so-called wonders of the world, the ancient Great Wall of China, would be at the top. I mean, isn't that what China is most famous for?
Map of China
When I searched the results for the US only, "map china" was at the top and I can only assume it means "map of China". Google leaves those useless connecting words (like "of", "and", "or") out of the search results.
I'm curious as to why there would be enough residents of the US looking for a map of China to affect the results in such a way. Is it because China is an up-and-coming economic powerhouse poised to dislodge the US as the number one superpower of the world? Your guess is as good as mine.
How long is the Great Wall of China?
Now, this is interesting: Since the Great Wall is visible from space (or via Google Earth), people tend to check the Great Wall of China facts on occasion. Well, the wall is longer than it used to be. Huh?
Researchers recently unearthed an 11-kilometer stretch in the Jilin province, according to Xinhua News. There may even be new discoveries, such as barracks or watchtowers along that stretch, but the forest terrain will make finding them quite difficult.
Why I am I curious about China?
Well, because I live in the Philippines and this country sits in the middle of the China Sea, near to China-controlled territories (like Hong Kong) and other places you should be familiar with: Korea, Vietnam, Japan and more. China is where my microwave oven came from, as well as my plumbing.
Despite being in an area influenced by China, and a history with China, my new home is completely sovereign, even if it does have a history of occupation and control by other countries.

IMO, the reason why China Airlines is on top of the search is because it has the word "China" in it. Thus, it became a very relevant keyword for your search. But I do agree that Great Wall should be on top, since it is the most popular thing about China.
That doesn't make sense. "Great Wall of China" has "China" in it too.
Google insights for search?
China I think is always considered as the cheapest country. I don't know if that's true.
