An Extreme AdSense Optimization Plugin Request for WordPress
I'm writing this in the hope that one or more aggressive WordPress plugin developers will see it and turn my dreams into reality. I have written about optimizing AdSense in the past, but I don't want to go back into those articles to point out relative information.
The Idea
I know for a fact that any blog can be optimized for AdSense, even personal blogs. There are no real secrets involved. Certain techniques can be used:
- Proper size, colors and placement
- Proper categorization and tagging
- Showing AdSense ads only to search visitors
- Blocking the showing of AdSense ads for certain topics
The Requirement
The plugin would need to be able to do all the above. I use a plugin now in which only search visitors are shown AdSense. I also wrote custom code to block the showing of AdSense to certain categories and tags. The ideal way would be the ability to do that as well as selectively exclude some posts.
While I can't mention my exact CTR, I can tell you that I get well over 5 percent every single day on this blog. At least half of all my visitors never see AdSense. Others, who don't fine-tune it as much as I do, are seeing 0 to 3 percent CTRs and guess what? They're probably smart-priced. I am not.
Final Thoughts
The reason, even though I know how, I won't write a plugin myself is because of my programming ethics. I rarely finish anything I start, unless I do it for money. I don't believe WordPress plugins should cost money, therefore…

I dont think you are asking for the world with that plugin, it should be more than possible to achieve. Please post back if you find a solution, i love anything that saves time even if its only a few minutes. Time is money as they say.
slick. never thought that maybe the site i visit, which doesn't have ads, actually might have them, hidden to certain visitors.

I am currently using the plugin that you are using to show adsense to search traffic on some of my blogs as well but would prefer it with more options too.
One thing I would like to see is the ability to swap ads so you can show affiliate banners to some visitors while showing adsense ads to others.

I have code in place that shows alternate ads. It's not something I can share, though, since it's very rough.
I would like to see an adsense plugin myself! I hope there is one that comes out!
I am like Ryan in thinking it would be need to show some folks something other than Adsense. I don't wanna show ads to my regular readers but I could atleast try to monetize with other programs with all the impressions. Or even just put up a subscibe to my blog or twitter message. But, this is a great call RT. Hope we hear an answer. Stumbled. :-)

I don't get along with developers in discussions. I'm not a real programmer, in their eyes, and my ideas have little merit.
Never mind the fact that I wrote an algorithm years ago that was subsequently used in a few operating systems, including Unix. Since I didn't attach my name to it, I never got credit and I never will.
A plugin like this would be great. Did I hear you say you were getting 5% CTR?!!!
I get about 0.40%. This is the first time I have been to this blog, so will go through and read some of your other articles.
P.S. What comment reply plugin do you use? Can you please email me the answer because I might not come back to this particular article again.
Thanks :D

What plugin are you using to show only the search visitors your Adsense? That sounds highly useful.
In regards to you being motivated to write the plugin, isn't making more Adsense revenue making money?

I use the "Who Sees Ads" plugin along with custom code. It already works as is on my blogs. The plugin would be for others.
I would like to read more about that plugin that hides ads from certain searches. I see how that would stop you from getting smart priced. I've read about the "Who sees ads" Wordpress plugin and the "Shylock" Adsense plugin, but haven't used either of them. If you have used one of these what is your opinion?
Thanks,

I use "Who Sees Ads" to limit display to searchers and then I use custom code in my template to limit the display further.
I think your regular readers are use to the adsense and therefore they get 'blind' to it. They more than likely know that its there to generate some extra income and I think most readers are fine with that. They are coming here for your articles so why shouldnt you be rewarded for that.
