About People: Day Job Nuker

Who is he? Just a regular guy who HATES his job! Do you like punching in at work everyday? Do you like being reviewed by your manager who doesn’t really know what you do? Do you wish you could get up every morning and do what you WANT to do rather than do what you HAVE to do? Are you tired of repeatedly having to list your resume at the different job web sites?

In 3 years leading to 7/1/2010, he is going to NUKE his day job! Why? Because he can’t stand it and working in the politically correct environment of today’s corporate world is NOT for him. His goal is to have many different income streams which will ultimately allow him to NUKE HIS JOB!

   It's a great concept and one that those of us who can, should.

   I'm stuck in a 9 - 5:30 job. My hours generally are more like 8 - 6. I have no window to the outside world in my office and often the whole daylight comes and goes without me seeing any of it.

   I can't help feeling there is more to life than this - I want to NUKE my day job!

   Maybe one day LOL

      Pay attention to what I write, Olly. I'm going to slowly reveal how to get out of that situation. It can't happen overnight (more like in the course of 2-3 years), but it can happen.

         I hope so - I am currently on year two of one of my projects and year one of another and it still seems a distance away from coming even close to that dream.

         Here in the UK everything is so expensive - and I wonder if this makes this type of dream even more impossible to achieve as any income needs to be that much more than other countries to live comfortably.

         Either way - I am dedicated and I will continue to read your blog and continue to work hard at it!

   I think it is possible to move a little faster than 2 or three years. My personal goal is January 2009, since that is when it's going to get real cold at my outside construction job.
   I am about one tenth of the way there now.

   Thanks for the mention. I picked 3 years because I think that is the most realistic time frame for me. I want to at least be able to work part time instead of full time. If I can succeed in that then I will have been successful.

   Quick question about links/backlinks/page ranking. In this story you don't actually provide links until near the end. Wouldn't more authority be given to the post if there are links in the first paragraph.

   Apologies for the derail - a great post as always and I think the DayJobNuker has found the niche-iest niche I have ever seen!

   I love not having a day job, and making all my income from online. This kind of work is extremely flexible, which is what I love most.

    hrmm, what would be ideal for me is having a day job (that i like, of course) alongside an online job, that would act as a suplemental income. Now to find something not too difficult and plausible.. :/

    i agree with olly those of us who can, should. i cant. i have to much of a high-standard-expectations of living to even think about leaving this job. it pays high but i have no time to even breath. I'm a yoga in the morning-gym in the evening chill out type of person and i don't have time for even one of the three things. I wish good luck to everyone and i think this is an incredible concept.
