minion You don't have to look like the image to your left in order to be a minion. Minion is a term for favorites or protégés, especially those of a monarch or prince at a royal court. Unlike a henchman or lackey, although of subordinate rank to his patron a minion is likely to be of noble birth or to be raised to the nobility, and is more of a companion and confidant to him than a servant or bodyguard.

Prepare to be amused, awed, or even disgusted when I explain how to become a noble UV minion and the benefits of being one. UV stands for "Untwisted Vortex", if you haven't already figured that out.

How to Become a Noble UV Minion

This is the easy part. All you have to do is subscribe to my Full Articles by Email (RSS feed by email). It's the only way I can track the minionship (yes, I made up that word — a derivative of minion and citizenship) with the least amount of effort on my part.

If you are already subscribed, then you are already one of my noble minions and I have your email address to prove it. I may not be able to match the address with a name or a blog, but I have it just the same.

Benefits of Noble UV Minionship

After you have subscribed to my RSS feed by email, send me a blurb (via the contact page) and include a link to either your site or to a specific post along with the anchor text. Make it something like this:

"RT Cunningham is such a swell guy and operates the Untwisted Vortex blog in the Philippines. You need to pay him a visit."

Once your subscription appears at FeedBurner, I'll publish your blurb as one of 10 (or less) minions in a specific post. At some time near then, I'll make sure I'm subscribed to your RSS feed by email if you have one. For the people who are already my minions, just send me a message with your blurb and include the email address you're subscribed with somewhere in the text of the message.

Another benefit is that I'll be sending you a message, asking you if you would like to be added to my exclusive minions email list. The messages I'll be sending out to the email list will be about specific topics, such as the new niche blogging platform I'm working on. Hint: It will be portable, requiring no database — nothing but PHP and text files (and XHTML Transitional, of course) — and no administrative software on the server side at all (all of the administration will handled client-side only).

There will be other benefits created as time progresses. Are you ready to become a noble UV minion?
