Blog Review: Bloggin-Ads
One of the first things I look at when reviewing a blog is the title. That may seem obvious to you, but you'd be surprised at how many people don't even look past the post title. "Bloggin-Ads" is a title that confused me. Oh well, it's just a title.
What is "Bloggin-Ads" all about?
I read Mike's "about" page and also the blurb in the lower right corner of the blog (which is actually an excerpt from the about page).
Mike started the blog in an effort to explore the whole blogging community (the "blogosphere") by reviewing a blog every single day. He doesn't do it that way anymore and I can't blame him. Doing a fair review every single day will lead to frustration more than anything else.
The blog has progressed to the point where Mike writes about anything he wants to write about, and it's almost always about some facet of blogging.
Site Design
It's not the most attractive theme in the WordPress theme arsenal (there are thousands), but it's still attractive enough to be pleasing to the eye. Including a picture of himself and his wife in the header only makes it more attractive.
I was looking for things to ding him on, but I really couldn't find anything worth mentioning. It's obvious he's done his homework. Other than the 125×125 pixel ads in the sidebar, the sidebar isn't cluttered by useless widgets. I did find the "peel away ad" a bit annoying, however, because I use the scroll bar on the side to go up and down (versus my scroll wheel) and I kept making it "peel away" by accident.
Article Content
There's a lot of great content on this blog. One only has to read the popular posts he has listed below the header to get a sampling.
I particularly enjoyed reading "Newsletters For Blogging Is Winning The Game". Mike said, "More bloggers are going towards this method of gaining subscribers and I'm thinking of adding this feature on my blog myself. The only problem is what would I write in the e-mail?" and that's where I'm at. What the heck would I write in a newsletter that I don't already write on the blog?
My Overall Opinion
Mike's blog is a social blog, that much is evident. At the time I wrote this, he had 1402 RSS subscribers, 1350 Twitter followers, an Alexa rank of 88,554 and a Google PageRank of 4. You just don't get those numbers in less than 9 months without being social.
Being a social blog, it makes me wonder what his search traffic is like. It doesn't look like his blog is monetized with AdSense or other CPC-type ads, so he's probably going the better route since the type of people (other bloggers) that read his blog won't be doing any clicking on those kinds of ads.
All in all, I enjoyed most of what I read and that's all anyone can ask of a reader. I'm subscribed to his email feed and that should say what I think of the blog without actually saying it.
Would you like a Review?
My reviews aren't the best. They aren't even close. They are one thing, though. They're absolutely free! No refunds and no exchanges. Make your blog the very best you can make it and then submit it on my "Request A Blog Review" page and I'll try to make my review the best I can make it.

I'm subscribed to mike's blog too. He has his way of requesting his readers and first time commenters to subscribe to his blog.
And he's getting lots of traffic from fellow bloggers lately. I credit that to his huge contest.
