It's Father's Day! Where's my cake?
Every year, it's the same thing when Father's Day rolls around. The first thought in my head comes from the 1982 movie, "Creepshow" and it's just like the quote: "It's Father's Day! Where's my cake?"
And every year, I wait. And I wait. And I wait some more, for at least one of my sons to wish me a happy Father's Day. I don't really want a cake or a gift of any kind. I just want to hear the words. Last year, my older son was more than a day late. My younger son, even though he lives with me, was a day late. This year, I haven't heard from my older son and my younger son only said it when he saw some search results on my screen that included "Father's Day".
Why is that they ALWAYS remember Mother's Day, but always forget about Father's Day until someone or something reminds them of it? Don't get me wrong. I'm not jealous of their mother. Wait. Yes, I am. I'm extremely jealous.

Yes, it's true that fathers are unsung heroes. But if we love them we need to show our affection towards them. It's also true that we do not need a particular occasion to show our love but, when there is a "father's day", we must take this occasion full of opportunity to show our care and respect our father expect from us. We should make this day special occasion.
Its because women make such a big deal of things. The heavens would come down if they forgot Mother's Day!

Just remember that if they are late they can still make it up on August 8th. In Taiwan (and many other chinese speaking countries), father's day is also August 8th. or 08/08/XXXX. It's a phonetic thing, since 8 is pronounced "bah", and month 8, day 8 is therefore "bah bah", which is how you say dad. It's similar to "papa" in other parts other world.

I watch that scene all th time where he complains abot his cake. It is so funny. I imitate him all the time. I buy the McCain Vanilla cake (probably the best cake that I've had) and I eat that a lot and say "Where's my cake!".
