I'm Not Apathetic – I Just Don't Care

boredom I'm not really bored. I'm just not interested. Ever since I started working with niche blogs, I've all but lost complete interest in this blog.

The Death of Untwisted Vortex?

I don't think it will ever happen, but I could be wrong. The blog is over 2-years old and, barring another catastrophe, will probably live to see many more birthdays. I'm afraid, however, that the days of posting multiple times per day (or even once per day) are over.

I am no longer trying to meet any self-imposed schedule. There are just way too many things going on, including things out of my control (think power and DSL outages connected with or without bad weather), for any kind of schedule to be practical. I've been pretty good at keeping my schedules in the past, but I find it harder and harder to do without being complacent.

Blog Reviews

Even though I'm very slowly reintegrating the ones from my short-lived reviews blog, I'm finding it difficult to muster the desire to do new ones on this blog. Perhaps my recent policy change will help matters. I will no longer review blogs that are all about how to make money online.

I'm sure, eventually, I'll run out of pending blog (or website reviews), as my apathetic behavior starts to be reflected in the way I write. I guess I'm waiting to be "wowed" by something new, fresh and exciting. I haven't been excited in a long, long time.

No Shortage of Inspiration

Despite my lack of interest, I have plenty of things I could write about. I'm just not enthusiastic enough to do it. Perhaps it's because some of the things I want to write about are more suited toward being written on niche blogs.

More than once in the last few days, I simply did not feel like writing anything at all. Perhaps the quality of what I write will improve when I actually feel like writing.

Answering Questions

This is what I like to do. I like to write articles in responses to questions. Not always, of course, or I'd never stop writing. Lately, however, the questions have been few and far between.

Is there something you want to know about, but can't find the answer anywhere? Are you looking for an opinion, or a second opinion, on something you'd like me to provide a lot of details on? Please, ask away.

If nothing seems to keep me enthused enough to write, and you're not helping me, I'll just have to fart in your general direction. (This last sentence is designed to see if you actually read.)

RT, I'm not one for taking big risks, so I'm going to hold my nose… (yes, I read).
As a recent follower and fan of Untwisted Vortex, I hope you keep going, though I understand the occasional lack of motivation (I suffer it too). I'm not a blogger, but if I was, I don't think I could write posts multiple times a day, or even once a day – I seem to have semi-permanent writer's block. Anyway, I have clicked through to some of the DF blogs on your list looking for other places to "help put food on the table." I've found a few excellent blogs (Lin's, Tim and Ernie's, and Frank's) – but also others that are just not interesting enough to spend my time on even if I'm filling the table (though they probably are of interests to others – no disrespect here!). Yes, I think of my time as valuable, and I'm careful were I spend it. I've spent a fair amount here. You've got a great blog, an uncommon blog, and I hope it continues to grow. Well, I'm out of town for a few days now so will have to sign off. The Gopher project hasn't done much, but I'm hoping something develops by the time I'm back and I can update. ~ Steve

Do I have to pull your finger first? Don't worry, I think my "give a damn" is broke too. Maybe you can write an article on self motivation :)

    You lucky..I'm apathetic :(

Anyway keep up the (good) work. I still read your blog even when your posts are not that good. Maybe I'm just a fan that could read whatever you write.

I wonder if you could write a bit more about your (new) home country. Otherwise you could try to start some interactive project like I tried to do on my blog. Maybe you'll have more luck.

May I know your niche websites?

    • Good God! I thought you fell off the face of the Earth, Maurizio. The last time I looked (and I just looked and noticed the 2 new articles) you'd stopped posting for more than a few months.

I don't have much to say about my new home country, or I would. I need to travel more in order to generate more.

Interactive projects that I've started in the past usually end up in disaster. There is, however, a project I plan to start that will rock your socks. Not just yours, but everyones.

    • As soon as my 4th niche blog is set up, I'll let the cat out of the bag. I'm not worried about social traffic interfering with search traffic anymore.

    • On second thought, no I wont. If you look around long enough, you'll figure them out on your own.

OH the SMELL! Couldn't you have held it in until you got to the john?! Peeeuuuuwwwweeeee!

I sure hope you're not giving up on this blog RT; I'd be very disappointed.

Personally, I absolutely refuse to buy into any notion of having to post to my blog x amount per day or per week. Hogwash! Search engine traffic has been fabulous to say the least, so if I don't post for a few days, so what.

Jo Dee Messina (country singer) has a song I love called My Give A Damn's Busted, and I wholeheartedly agree. My blog….My way.

I've been reading Untwisted Vortex for quite a while now, but only recently started commenting. I am very interested in seeing what you have done with those niche blogs, but understand the need not to publicise them to social traffic to soon.
I reckon then you will get lots of responses and quite a few questions too.

I did have a question, but it was based on your recent blog review post, not here (about UPS, surge protection and voltage regulators), but my husband (a geek by trade himself) answered it for me, so I won't bother to ask it, sorry :)

It seems to me that there is a general malaise throughout the blogging world at the moment. Everyone is trying so hard to produce all these different niche blogs as well as keep their social blogs updated they are getting exhausted.
Just post when you feel like it. Your regular readers will still be here, even if we don't always comment.

I'm lucky that I have Ernie to hold the bar down for me. Since I started a bunch of niche sites, between that and my full time job I'm lucky if I manage to swing by the Redneck and post once a week.
Keeping up a frantic pace isn't necessary, however. I'll read your posts however often they come out.

    RT,

You aren't alone – ever wonder why all the top blogs use guest posters? Trying to do what you have been doing wears me out just reading – never mind having to write it all. Glad to see you aren't a machine!

Your readers will read whatever you write whether it's once a day or once a month… or at least I will. The farting has to stop though!

My exact same sentiments a couple of months back. Just lost the interest when we get to do other things that are more rewarding.

Maybe you should just stop for a couple of months, re-focus and start all over again with a new intiative. It worked for me. For the time being at least. LOL

Do whatever makes you happy, RT. I'll miss your articles if you slow down, but it's understandable. It's hard to split your focus several different ways.

No matter what happens you'll always have untwistedvortex to fall back on. With the current proliferation of both Make Money Online and niche blogs I'm certain something is bound to go bust in the near future.
