Blog Review: Tantric Yoga Techniques

Tantric Yoga Techniques

"Tantric Yoga Techniques" is what I would call a niche blog. It may be a "made for AdSense" (MFA) blog, but if it is, it's being done wrong. More on that later.

What is "Tantric Yoga Techniques" all about?

Yoga is a group of ancient spiritual practices, possibly originating in India around 3300 BCE, for the purpose of cultivating a steady mind.

Tantra is an Asian body of beliefs and practices which, working from the principle that the universe we experience is nothing other than the concrete manifestation of the divine energy of the Godhead that creates and maintains that universe, seeks to ritually appropriate and channel that energy, within the human microcosm, in creative and emancipatory ways.

Tantric Yoga combines the two. This blog seems to mix sexuality with Tantric Yoga, but Tantra merely uses sexuality as part of the path to enlightenment.

Site Design

The blog design works well for a niche blog. Only the included images and videos make it more than the minimalist approach. The first thing I noticed about it was that it didn't cater to social traffic. Is it an MFA site? I don't know for sure, but if it is, the AdSense ads are in the wrong place.

MFA sites only work well when the ads are the first thing you see. In this blog's case, it's probably one of the last things you see. I don't think it's an MFA site and I didn't think so the first time I saw it or I would have declined to review it.

Article and Post Content

There isn't a lot of content to look at, with only 14 articles in place. The first article on the index page is static and it's entitled "Tantric Yoga". It explains Tantra but it doesn't explain the relationship between tantra and yoga, which is the basis for Tantric Yoga techniques.

My Overall Opinion

If you're interested in Tantric Yoga at any level, this blog may be of interest. Otherwise, you're probably better off spending your time somewhere else. It also isn't a yoga for seniors (it would probably kill them). It's a very specific niche.

I'm not interested in the blog, or the content, and this will probably be the last time I look at it. Regardless, it's a decent niche blog that's very new (April 2008). It'd be interesting to see how much traffic it draws in a few more months, but I'm not going to check up on it.

Would you like a Review?

My reviews aren't the best. They aren't even close. They are one thing, though. They're absolutely free! No refunds and no exchanges. Make your blog the very best you can make it and then submit it on my "Request A Blog Review" page and I'll try to make my review the best I can make it.

Do you know? I really like that blog. It's a nice clean design and very niche specific.
I agree with you about the static post though – doesn't do the subject justice and I think it also gives the impression to the casual reader that the blog hasn't been updated in a while (when it has – well, in May anyway…)

More for the beginner searching out tantric yoga than the practitioner though, and it does have a few rather general assumptions in it, nevertheless I think it's well done.
And it's affiliate driven rather than MFA (I clicked on the links).

I don't usually comment on blog reviews but I had to on this one. I hope the blog does well.
Thanks for pointing it out

  2. Hi RT, I clicked through to the blog and agree with you. I'm way too stiff to do yoga, so my opinions on it don't mean much. I liked the pictures, but didn't like that when I clicked on the "About" button, it was a generic "This blog is about [insert name of blog]." If one doesn't have any additional "about" information, don't have the page! By the way, you have a good "about" page. On the plus side, it looks like Stela went to the RT school of bolding.
Unrelated, here's my Project Titanium Gopher Trousers day one update. I wouldn't expect much to happen about unilateral show displays, and it hasn't. Results show nothing, that is the big G displays nothing, not even an single unilateral result. Interestingly enough, I don't think the Esentepe review has been seen by G (I searched for a quote out of it), but your later Comments post has. Wonder why… I wouldn't expect any results this quick (24 hours) – I'm just impatient and thought I'd give the project a second dose of juice. Steve

    • Indexing is odd sometimes. I was looking for something one day and the related post link showed up but the actually post didn't. I always wait 3-4 days before I start looking for something specific. Besides, Mint tells me when a search hits a page.

Legitimate blogs have an about page of some kind, but I agree there should be more than a generic description.

Wow! tantric Yoga? I've never heard that before. I think it's interesting to learn those techniques. I'm upto yoga for the past 5 months. I admit that I was just forced to try it, but then, I found it interesting. I'll share Tantric Yoga to my mates. thanks for sharing!

A note to Westerners who're keen on Yoga:

Yoga should never be self-learned/taught. It should always be taught by a qualified professional. Especially things which involve the occult like Tantric yoga.

I have read of people who become severely injured trying to practise breathing exercises (Pranayama) without guidance and some of the practices might also lead to mental imbalance (madness) if not practised with guidance.

Yoga is not a sport. It is a systematic body of knowledge that needs to be learned from a Guru who can guide and teach properly.

Wow. Thanks for the warning. Checked the site, tantric yoga seems mysterious and sensual. Much like Kama Sutra  , another, probably related, Indian term.

      • hari says:

Strange as it may sound, Tantra has very little to do with any kind of sex, as such. Tantra is usually associated in India with the practice of the occult and spiritual practices and occasionally by what you might call witch-doctors and sorcerers (yes, some of them still exist in modern India in certain parts of the country).

Actually I was not even aware that Tantra had a sex angle until I read Wikipedia. It seems that a few Western scholars got overly imaginative in their interpretation of Hindu scriptures. If there was any "sexual theme" in Tantra, it has either been grossly exaggerated in importance or misinterpreted.

I think a lot of Westerners tend to associate sexuality and Kama Sutra with Hinduism, while the truth is that Hinduism by itself has very little to do with it and it is, but a minor part of life as are other worldly activities. Hinduism does not deny worldly pleasures, but at the same time it does not place much emphasis on them as a means of attaining salvation.

While I am no scholar, I am a Hindu myself and (I hope) I have a reasonable understanding of some Hindu religious practices.

Yoga, far from being merely a body system, is also a spiritual system. There are, of course, several schools of Yoga in India and Nepal.

  5. Very sensual as well as spiritual. I've done much yoga over the years and find that no matter what style it is, it yields similar relaxing results.

The site design is not bad, either. Although I'm not a huge fan of MFA sites.

Wow!! Very useful one. . YOGA is very spiritual and it's a very pleasant exercise to do and also can feel some relax while doing this exercise. . Won't get this feel from other exercises you know. . Simply Amazing article. . Nice to know somthing good from you

I actually found the site a little helpful. However it would NOT be a website for someone who is deeply passionate about learning yoga, it is more of a skim overview for someone who is possibly interested. And as you said it does not tell how Tantra and Yoga are incorporated into Tantric Yoga, it simply describes them seperately.

One may ask before starting yoga that if they have to change their lifestyle to start yoga. NO, Yoga does not belong to any religion. It doesn't require anything else from you which changes your life. You don't have to your diet or drink habits. neither You need to quit smoking.

Not too informative blog, is you ask me. Bunch of info scrapped from different places. And design is awful, wp-theme is two years old at least. But a big pro – all the info is well structurized so one can find a decent info about different aspects of tantra.
