I don't know if should publish this review. Sharon's blog, "Get Paid to Write Online", keeps knocking mine down at TopOfBlogs. I'm teasing, of course. I never let stuff like that bother me.

What is "Get Paid to Write Online" all about?

Well, it's a blog about freelancing and it isn't the first one I've been to. In fact, it's one of many. Freelancing is about writing online for fun and profit. You're a journalist for the web and your writing can take many forms. Sharon's talents include writing SEO web content, ghostwriting and ghost blogging.

Site Design

Sharon's blog design uses a combination of fluid and fixed width, the fluid width being the top header. I've seen the design before, but this one is obviously customized. It looks really good and I know Sharon is spending some time doing subtle changes to optimize it better.

Speaking of optimization, I didn't see a "home" navigation button and the footer is missing one very important link. The "home" button isn't really necessary, except for those who don't realize that the header link takes them home. The missing link in the footer is this: Get Paid to Write Online

What? Yes. That link is important because it gives a backlink from every page on the blog back to the index page. Optimized internal links are just as important as inbound links with anchor text.

Article and Post Content

If I had to pick an article out of the last 10 or so, I'd pick "Self Promotion: What’s The Point?". Sharon's writing is clear and it spells out the advantages to promoting yourself, your brand, or both. I don't personally enjoy self-promotion, but it's absolutely necessary when no one else is doing the promotion.

My Overall Opinion

This is a great blog that Sharon has not been promoting. If she spent more time promoting it, I'm sure the traffic numbers would rock. It's obviously not Sharon's sole blog or sole means of communication, or it would already be rocking.

Like some of the other freelancing blogs, I wholeheartedly recommend this blog to anyone who wants to make a career out of writing online. Print journalism is slowly dying out and being replaced by online media. Now is the time to jump from one ship to the other.
