WordPress Plugin: Ajax Edit Comments 2.0

Ajax Edit Comments 2.0:

WP Ajax Edit Comments (for WP 2.5+) allows users and admins to edit comments on a post. Users can edit their own comments for a limited time, while admins can edit all comments.

If you're using WordPress 2.5+ and you're not using Ajax Edit Comments 2.0, then you don't know what you're depriving your readers of. The most important feature is allowing readers to edit their comments for a specified period of time.

I had a very small hand in reporting an unusual 404 error bug at "Ajax Edit Comments 2.0 Released". There may be an issue with WP Super Cache, but I haven't seen any problems here. Of course, I only have the cache set for 5 minutes to protect the blog from getting digg slammed, stumbled into oblivion and keeping the comment spammers at bay when it all comes in at the same time.

The great thing about this latest version is that it works with both the CommentLuv and KeywordLuv plugins. Since I started using it, I haven't seen any comments with display issues either. I can recommend Ajax Edit Comments 2.0 without any reservations.

   hi RT, This is a great feature that I must have missed a few days ago when I noticed a typo after I submitted my comment. I've seen it on a forum or two but not here. I'm going to submit this comment and see if I can then fix this spelling "mistaek".

   hmm, I don't get it. I wanted to fix my "mistaek" but I don't see how to do it. Am I supposed to see an edit button or something? I'm using IE6 on XP.

   RT, I don't think it's the amount of time. I just don't know what to do? After I click "Submit comment" and see my comment, and see the "errer", how do I edit it? Am I missing something? I've had three cups of coffee now and I still don't see what to do to edit a comment… here goes.

      Still no luck. Just had a thought though, maybe my pop-up window blocker is disabling a pop-up that lets me do it? I'll try submitting this comment with pop-ups enabled…
      or is it my cookie blocker?

   Damn, still no luck. However, I enabled cookie prompting and refreshed this page. I saw that Untwisted wanted to cookie me which I said is ok. I saw google wanted to cookie me too, but I said no thanks.
   so I've enabled cookies from Untwisted and I'm going to submit a "scrue" up again.

   Bingo! THIS IS AN EDIT! I needed to allow cookies! I could fix screw up above, but I'll leave it. RT, you may want to edit this post to say it only works if the user allows cookies. I find at least half of my website visitors have cookies blocked. You can also set the time back from 15 minutes to 5, or even 3. I usually see my mistakes right away or days later. Steve

      I would edit it to say that a user needs to enable cookies, but almost all Ajax requires it. I think you just need a real cookie to go with all that coffee.

   I recently added it to my blog and it works quite well!

   Now if only I could get a decent comment manager that works…I have yet to upgrade my Wordpress and really don't want to unless it's absolutely necessary.

   Barbara ling, you should upgrade because wordpress 2.5 and 2.5.1 have some serious security updates that everyone needs.

   I think this plugin is a great idea cause sometimes you make mistakes on comments and need to edit your comment.

      I totally agree that you should upgrade. There's a nasty vulnerability that allows an attacker to gain control of uploads and will insert a directory in your site that will contain thousands of pages redirecting to their pages - I mean thousands! Upgrade before they turn your site into a giant spam redirect for the search engines to blacklist.

    Hi,
    Could you give me some guidance with this marvellous plugin?
    I downloaded wp-ajax-edit-comment ver2.O.1.O.
    It only works when I login as admin at my blog.
    It does display the icons whenever I access my blog without logging in.
    Am I to take it that this also would be the same for blog visitors?
    My blog is non registration enabled.

       Being able to edit your own comment always has value. It does slow things a bit, but I'm working on a solution to that.

    This sure is a useful plugin. I'll install it some other day.

    It's absolutely priceless for a commenter to go back and correct a couple of his or her spelling/grammar mistakes.

    I have been using this plugin on Pingable pretty much since day one. It's great for the user although it does mess up certain stats packages…WP's slim stat for one doubles the page impressions when you use this plugin. Not a big deal as I use GA now but a pain for some.
