RSS Feeds: 3 Reasons Why Senator John McCain Will Be The Next US President
As I sat and pondered the news I'd been reading about the candidates who are competing in the Democratic and Republican primaries, all I could do was shake my head in disbelief. They don't have a clue. It doesn't matter if either Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton or Senator Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. wins in the Democratic primary. Neither of them is going to get elected. Here are my reasons why:
1. Americans will not elect a woman as President of the US. She has a chance as the Vice-President.
2. Americans will not elect an African-American as President of the US. He doesn't even stand a chance as the Vice-President.
3. Americans will not elect a person with an Islamic-sounding name as President of the US, especially after what happened in 2001.
I'm as opposed to Senator McCain being president as much as any Democrat (and I usually vote Republican) and I'm open-minded enough to give Senator Clinton or Senator Obama a fair chance. The American senior citizens however, who are in the fastest growing age group (more than 12 percent in 2000) of the US population, are against it. A perfect example is my father. In the past, he always voted Democrat. This year, he's voting Republican even though he can't stand Senator McCain.
I'm sorry to say it, but bigotry lives on in our senior citizens.

I agree with your reasons. But then again what do I know…I thought Ron Paul would have had a larger share of the vote.
Unfortunately, no one ever takes people like Paul seriously. We would rather vote for a hot-headed, short tempered war hero who just wants to kick everyone's ass instead. I voted for Bush lol….I now am an avid democratic supporter, and I really hope that we don't allow another republican in the white house for a long while. I hope we have alot of republican convert who will vote for Obama. I am 21 yrs old, white, and in college. I would even rather Hilary get it versus Mccain. Thats my 2 cents. By the way…People claim Obama will undo all the progress we have made in Iraq. What progress? Am I missing something? We are supposed to be going after Osama, but we land in Iraq and start re-writing their legal system for them. Why is the US always the first one to bust in and pillage people's countries. What we just go bust down someones door for preemptive agendas when we have a bad feeling about something! Why should we??? And to top it off, BEER IS NOW CHEAPER THAN GAS!!!!
I really wanted Ron Paul to be a contender.
It's too bad our cars don't run on beer, because it's MUCH cheaper to get beer here in the Philippines (about a buck a gallon).
Right, I agree with your reasons too. But we never know, who get the victory. ;)
You may be right. I hope you're wrong, though. It's really sad to think that our country may not have evolved to the point where people would vote for someone based on their abilities and policy stances rather than their race or gender.

You are probably right. I would also add that the 2 Dem candidates have done all the hard work of digging dirt on each other, McCain doesn't have to do anything – he'll be able to be the only relatively clean candidate.

I can't stand Hillary. Obama has no experience and he's running his campaign like John Kennedy did. McCain is really a democrat not a republican so the choices are awful. Bottom line…I'm voting for McCain as the other two scare me half to death. It has nothing to do with being female or black. I do not like anything that sounds like Islam/Muslim either. Just saying. I suspect you might be right … but not necessarily for the reasons you've stated.
First off, the Republicans were unbelievably fortunate to nominate the only one of their candidates who even has a chance to win this year (IMO). If Rush, Sean, Laura, etc had gotten the candidate they wanted, this thing would probably be over already … no matter how badly the Dems beat each other up during the remainder of the primary.
Second, I think your point #2 about Obama is dead wrong …
If anything, the fact that he's black actually improves Obama's chances this fall. (People who would vote against someone primarily because he's black were most likely going to vote Republican anyway). In a relatively evenly divided electorate, it's the Independent voters in the middle who are most likely to decide elections. And as one (a middle of the road Independent), I can tell you that many of us wouldn't mind seeing Obama elected (even if we might not agree with some of his policies) just to prove that our country IS at the point where we can elect a black man President.
Now, as to why I think you may be right about McCain …
Even in what looks to be a Democratic year, John McCain is a very good "fit" for many Independents. He's fiscally conservative, but doesn't really push the divisive social issues very hard.
On top of that, in my mind anyway (and the reason I'm leaning towards voting for him, even though I like Obama too), the biggest thing McCain has going for him is the fact that the Democrats are almost certain to retain control of both houses of congress.
I'm a Huge fan of divided government.
If the past few years have taught us nothing else, it's that neither party governs very well when give total control.
Checks and balances were built into our system for a reason.

I hope you're right about Obama and I hope he gets to be the Democratic candidate in order for it to be proven. Even a fair share of the votes would be enough proof that it could happen.
I will be writing in Ron Paul in November if I have to. I guess I am getting stubborn in my old age. :wink:
In the event that RP does not make it, I am hoping that Obama takes it. Not that I personally believe his blathering about change, rather the mainstream America believes it. We need to get out of the Clinton/Bush/McBush rut, otherwise we might all be moving to the Philippines :razz:
