linksHere's a way to build backlinks which isn't quick, but it's virtually painless. All you have to do is comment on the "do follow" blogs. Wait a second, there's more!

What are these people doing?

There's a whole boatload of people out there that have disabled the rel="nofollow" attribute for the links in the comment headers of their blogs, making them "do follow" (using a variety of plugins). There's also another boatload of people who have the CommentLuv WordPress plugin installed, which retrieves a post title from the commenter's blog and displays it at the bottom of the comments. A third boat is filling up with people who have the KeywordLuv WordPress plugin installed, which allows you to use your name and keywords in the comment header.

The sheer number of blogs using one or more of the plugins is mind-boggling.

Finding the real "do follow" blogs

The problem is that some of the blogs that claim to be "do follow" actually aren't "do follow". Also, some of the blogs with the aforementioned plugins installed are not "do follow" at all (and probably don't intend to be). How do you find the real "do follow" blogs in all of this mess?

Well, first of all, Courtney Tuttle compiled a list of blogs that follow with the D-List. Second, Stephan Miller has started compiling another list, Link Love for CommentLuv Blogs, having completed part 1 of 3. No one has started a KeywordLuv list yet.

Someone needs to go through all the blogs on all the lists and find out which ones are which.

Mission Impossible?

You can call me Jim Phelps or you can call me Ethan Hunt, or you can just call me crazy, but I accept that mission. I intend to go through each and every blog on every list and create a massive list of which ones are "do follow" and indicate whether they have the CommentLuv and/or KeywordLuv plugins installed. I intend to do it at least once, but I may do it several times.

Here's how I'm going to do it. I'm going to go to each blog, one at a time, and check the comments (I'll post a comment if I feel it's appropriate). If a blog is on one of the lists and isn't using what they're shown as using, I'm going to notify Courtney Tuttle, Stephan Miller and anyone else I know that are maintaining lists so they can have the blog removed from their lists.

A Herculean task?

Yes, I may be biting off more than I can chew. If I am, it won't be the first time. Anyone care to help? If your blog isn't on one of those lists (yet), drop a comment so I can check your blog out and add it to the Do Follow, CommentLuv and KeywordLuv Blog List, currently in the right sidebar under "Reader Appreciation".
