Pick My Brain, But Not To Pieces

Eating brains stops the pain. In February of 2007, I offered my wit and wisdom to anyone who asked when I announced that the answer man cometh. No one, and I mean no one, took me up on my offer.

I'm not quite a "jack of all trades", but I do have over 30 years of experience under my belt. I've been around the world at least once, I've been to more than half of the states that comprise the US and I'm a father with grown sons. The latter is probably the most important aspect of my personal history.

Use Twitter

Now that you can follow me on Twitter, there's really no reason you can't ask for information or assistance.

Unlike email, Twitter messages don't get blocked by an overzealous spam filter. And unlike an instant messenger, I don't have to use your IM or be online to receive the messages.

Sign up for Twitter and use it. It's not just for saying what you're doing.

Pick My Brain

Yes, I said "pick my brain". Just don't pick it to pieces or try to eat it. You'd be surprised at the things I know, even things that I've long shuffled to the bottom of the plate stack.

Believe me when I tell you; if you have knowledge that I need, I won't hesitate to ask.

What is a good way to notify Google of additions to a static site. I know pinging on blogs is a great idea, but I am starting my first static site, and am curious. Thanks.

      The chicken.

Honestly, just get a Google sitemap generator for the static site, which puts the XML files in the root directory. Make sure you set it up for the Google Webmaster Tools. Then, go to a few high traffic blogs, comment and use your main URL along with about 10 prominent pages as the URL address in the comments. They do not have to be "dofollow" blogs. Your pages will get indexed by reference.

Do NOT request the site be added through the Google directory service. The indexing will take forever that way.
