WordPress Woes

I just spent the last 24 hours upgrading WordPress on 3 blogs. Things broke. Some people were blamed, others were shot.

I could have saved myself a whole lot of headaches if I'd disabled the cache on each of them while changing the widgets. Mine kept disappearing on me. If you haven't upgraded yet, do yourself a favor and do that first.

   Hi RT,

   If you're still interested in b2evolution as an alternate, they're now looking for custom designers/developers to help extend it.

   And it's paid work too. E.g. Skin conversion, plugin development, enhancements, etc.

      Besides, I'm not very proficient in design or development. No, scratch that, I really suck.

   I upgraded last night and it went without a hitch. First time in a while I haven't had to use workarounds.

   Then again, I only have the one blog

   I think I'm going to wait a couple of weeks before I upgrade. I want to see how it works out for everyone else before I do it for myself.

   I always get nervous with the WordPress upgrades and usually put them off as long as I can.

   I've used an "Automatic Upgrade Plugin" in the past. Anyone know if this will work for the latest version?

      I haven't seen any complaints about the automatic upgrade plugin, but to be honest, the manual upgrade is so simple that the plugin really isn't necessary.

      Just make sure that when you do the wp-content folder that you upload the contents and not the actual folder - make sure all plugins are turned off and if you have made changes to things like comments.php that you preserve a copy so you can carry changes over.

         In my case, my connection makes the automatic upgrader a godsend.

      2.5 has an automatic updater built in.
