The M&M Online Blog

I'm always curious about the names people choose for their blogs. With "The M&M Online Blog", it's no different. When I see "M&M", the first thing that comes to mind is the candies that "melt in your mouth, not in your hands". In the case of this blog, I have no idea what it stands for — there's no about page or welcome message (first post) that spells it out. Since Moazzam Ahmed (a.k.a. -MaLanG!!) is from Karachi, Pakistan, it could be anything American or otherwise.

Now, about the theme… this is a Blogger blog, but Moazzam has done everything to make it look like anything but Blogger and that's a good thing as far as I'm concerned. He has multiple blogs and I'd like to see an about page of some kind, instead of the links to multiple profiles. The theme looks good and it's easy to read.

Although it's a fairly new blog (December 2007), there's some interesting articles already in place. One thing I don't agree with, and I found it with "21 Traffic Triggers for Social Media Marketing", is the almost complete copying of articles from other bloggers. Look at Brian Clark's original "21 Traffic Triggers for Social Media Marketing" to see what I mean. It doesn't matter if you have permission to republish or not; one of you will suffer a duplicate content penalty from Google and other search engines.

It's always better to publish excerpts, paraphrase, etc. By limiting how much is actually copied, you can not only avoid duplicate content penalties, you can avoid irritating those you copy the information from. Adding your own opinions to others makes for better copy, no pun intended.

This blog, along with Moazzam's other blogs, has the potential to be an excellent resource. I recommend you take a look when you have the time.
