Shayon's Labyrinth !!

Is it me, or is there just too much advertising on "Shayon's Labyrinth !!"? I have nothing against a blogger trying to make a buck or two, but this looks like something John Chow would do. Maybe it's not the advertising that bothers me. Maybe it's that he has too much going on in the two right sidebars.

The theme itself looks great. I like the fluid width header on top of the fixed body. He must have found the tips somewhere on how to make a blog that's hosted on blogspot.com not look like it's hosted there. He's using his own domain name and he has the top dashboard bar hidden. Of course, he can't completely hide the hosting method. There are too many conspicuous things that point out a Blogger blog to anyone who's been surfing the blogosphere for more than a week or so.

I read Shayon's article on how to advertise for your blog effectively with interest to see if I could glean something new. Alas, it was merely about which parts of your blog you want people to link to. The follow-up article, containing the solutions was also a let down. It spoke of sidebar widgets more than anything.

I don't like being completely negative about any blog I review, but for a blog that's approaching 3 years in age, this one isn't doing a good job for the author. The posting frequency is sporadic at best — a quick look at the archives tells me that. Shayon's blog should have twice the traffic that mine has and be higher ranked in many areas. I know it's personal blog, but I can't personally recommend it until Shayon spends much more time and effort in improving it.
