The Politics of Debt

It would be virtually impossible to classify "The Politics of Debt" as anything other than a U.S.-centric political blog covering economic and financial news. The "Eye on the White House" page link in the top navigation bar kind of gives it away. That page, by the way, needs some work. It looks perfect in Internet Explorer, but I use Firefox and it looks far from perfect to me.

The theme, Newspaperize, is the perfect format for this kind of blog, but there are some issues with the presentation of the content. The tag cloud doesn't quite fit in the left column. Some of the links lower down don't quite fit either. This issue can be mitigated by making the complete layout about a half-inch wider and using that half-inch for the left sidebar. There are some other CSS tweaks that can help, like putting list items within their own containers and then within the sidebars, but it's not for the weak of heart. I don't know how old the blog is, but it goes back to at least September of 2007. There isn't an archives widget or page that I could find. I found the September post by manipulating the post ID in the URL. I didn't want to spend an hour paging back 1 article at a time.

Franklin's latest article, "Pay it Forward, and Is Google Too Big not to be Evil?", is an interesting read. I won't weigh in with my thoughts on the political issue, but I've already made my thoughts on Google well-known. Franklin's blog could become an awesome blog with some tweaks and minor changes, as well as more frequent articles. I'm sure there are plenty of Americans that would be interested in his points of view. I know I am.
