The Sky News broadcast I mentioned in my original blog lock down post is scheduled to air in little over an hour from now, after being delayed for a day. I've already started receiving traffic (for several hours now) from "The Kindness of Strangers", a blog post I wrote for Sky News.

I'm not taking any chances with the Digg.com crowd, the members of which like to jump on mainstream media stories minutes after they happen. The last time I got digg-slammed, after Steve of "Ramblings from the Marginalized" submitted my "Downloading Pirated Anything Is NOT Illegal" rant, my former web host was unreachable for 12+ hours by most people.

This time, I have a better web host (much better) and I'm using the lock down mode of WP Super Cache. It may not help much with an initial burst of 500 connections all at once, but it should help things a bit after that initial burst.

Even though I'm not taking any chances, I don't think it's going to happen. Nevertheless, I've been wrong before.
