How to Climb the SERPS Quickly

If you've read anything from prominent bloggers like Grizzly at How to Make Money Online for Beginners, then you may know where I'm headed with this. I know how to climb the SERPS quickly.

Using and repeating keywords and key phrases in an article to help it rise in the search engine results pages (SERPS) is only one facet of search engine optimization (SEO) that all website owners and writers should be aware of. I want to focus on this aspect as the result of my own tests.

A lot of people seem to be hung up on Google PageRank (PR), but PR will not increase traffic. Traffic is the lifeblood of any website and rising in the SERPS can only help it increase. For those of who are trying to get higher click values for programs like Google AdSense, I have some suggestions. It doesn't matter if you have a niche website or not, the principles work the same.

Keywords and Key Phrases

The secret (not really a secret) is to include as much of the keywords/phrases in the title, at the beginning, at the end, and in as many places in between as possible without making it look incredibly spammy. Make sure each is in bold or surrounded by H2 tags (not always possible due to CSS formatting). Google's search engine eats that stuff for lunch.

I watched one of my articles reach #22, using a highly competitive group of keywords, and another to #1, in a not-so-highly competitive group of keywords, using this very technique. The key to keeping it rising in the SERPS is to make sure the rest of the content is completely relevant. Some trigger-happy competitors will start reporting it as spam if you don't keep it focused.

Write About High Dollar Items

Yes, even if you have a personal blog like mine, you can generate high-paying clicks from AdSense and programs like it by writing about high-ticket items. My very recent article on Our 2006 Toyota Corolla Altis is already generating high-paying clicks from search engine visitors. Here are some more topics to consider:

Automobiles
Computers
Laptops or Notebooks
Houses or Homes
Boats (Yachts)
Recreational Vehicles or "RV" (Land Yachts)

Articles focused on topics like these will generate higher-paying clicks but only if they don't remain at the tail end of the SERPS. I highly recommend you use SEO techniques like this. It actually makes an article more readable and it's also how to climb the SERPS quickly.

That's interesting about how you got good clicks from writing about a car. I'll bear that in mind for future posts.

Thanks for sharing your results, RT. For folks reading this, you can easily highlight the number of times a word or phrase appears on a page by doing (in FireFox) ctrl-f and then enter the word and click 'Highlight all'. You can also do this if you have the Google toolbar installed and click on the highlighter icon.

RT's got #7 on "Toyota Altis" with 242,000 search results and #3 on "Toyota Corolla Altis" with 114,000 search results. Not bad at all. And this for a post written 2 days ago!

i agree that Keywords and Key Phrases will help a lot in increasing the SERPS

Personally I doubt whether I'll change my writing style to include Search-Engine friendly strings.
