Blog Review: Spicy Tasty

Aargh! Another food-related blog! Why is that I always peruse these things when I've either not eaten at all or when I had a dinner that wasn't quite fulfilling? Self-punishment — that has to be it.

Anyway, "Spicy Tasty" is such a new blog that I can smell the electrons drying. [So sue me for the lame attempt at humor.] It appears that Shriya started her blog on December 28th, which is kind of odd because I received the review request on December 27th. Even with the time zone difference between the Philippines and India, it means the review request was put in just before or just after the first blog entry. Hmm… perhaps someone was more enthusiastic than most.

There are some things missing from what looks like a custom theme. I'll let you guess what they are since I may be too short-sighted to realize that those items aren't there because of how new this blog is. It does look nice and uncluttered, however, and that's a big plus in my book.

I don't have to go past the front page to spot something that I'd enjoy eating: Pepper Chicken Gravy. My salivary glands are working overtime even though I've already left the page.

   First off, thanks for the review RT. I actually started posting recipes on Nov 10 but again there is no way you could have found that out without a link to the archives. I have added it now.

   I opted not to display the date archive since I figured people would be more interested in looking at categories and tags for recipes than the actual date it was posted. I was thinking I was avoiding clutter but maybe archives isn't something to cut out.

   I would love to hear more about the missing items you have mentioned. I am working on a Page menu and you are probably right that I jumped the gun requesting a review.
   Again appreciate the time you took to review and or the honest opinions.

      The archives link was the obvious one. I wasn't sure, but I thought you may have been waiting for more posts to accumulate.

      The other is the ability to page. I didn't find it at the the bottom of the index page and not at the bottom of the single posts. I would have been able to find the posts prior to the first one I found had there been links for paging.

   Hope you don't mind me chipping in, but I thought it could also do with an About page, so people can find out more about who's writing the recipes (and maybe a contact page too).

   Thanks for writing this review. In fact, I asked my wife (shriya) to request a review with you and asked her to brace for a honest one too. Really, she found it useful as this is her first blogging adventure I am sure this'll help her learn the ropes.

   Thanks for the kind words again. She is working on author pages as well as the contact page. Plus, RT's suggestion about pagination and the whole deal. i am trying to stay out of SpicyTasty besides spreading the word so she gets some first hand experience with the fun of blogging and developing a blog to something wholesome.

   Hi RT,

   The website spicytasty.com is an interesting website. Its hard to find such indian recipes in any other websites or blogs. Its really useful for bachelors like me stayin in US.

   I am sure that this website is gonna rock.

   Hey RT,

   Wat you said is right..there are lots of food related website like this..But these guys really making a difference by concentrating much in south indian dishes which is really amazing…….

   Lets see how regularly they do the updates which will really make sense…
