I hate overly criticizing any blog that I review. There are a couple of things that stand out on "Money Making Blogs" that I simply have to mention. The first is the width. As you can see from the snapshot above, there's some wasted space on both sides at the most common resolution used today, 1024×768. The second is the posting frequency — 10 articles in just under 2 months.
A few tweaks here and there of the CSS will take advantage of the full 1024×768 resolution. I can't tell you how to do it specifically though, because I don't know how it's laid out. The theme looks like the modified Kubrick theme, but I'm only guessing. The point is to make it look appealing for people that use the most common resolution first, and then worry about the other resolutions.
For a blog that targets blog monetization, I think the posting frequency should be increased at least 5-fold. The blog is over two years old and should be getting much more traffic than I can see. I think increasing the posting frequency would cause that to happen almost automatically.
Despite all that, there really are some good articles on the blog. The one about Building A Moat Around Your Blog is a prime example. I particularly enjoyed reading "More Blogger Earnings a.k.a. Blogging Is Big Business" to find out what some professional bloggers are reporting as their blogging income. It's too bad I'll never even get close to the lowest amount (I actually don't care, but one can dream).
What Hock really needs with this blog is a shot in the arm. Get over there, read some stuff, and comment like there's no tomorrow. I bet that'll get his attention.
