What's Your 20?

It's not a blog, but I was asked to take a look at it anyway. I normally only do free reviews for blogs, but every once in a while, I'll do something like this; a free review of a non-blog website.

The title and the phrase, "What's your 20?", is a an expression that truckers in North America use on their CB radios, which refers to the North American law enforcement "ten-code" established back in 1937. The "10-20" code means "Specify Location/My Location is ___/Location", except in New York City where it means "Report of past robbery". I know this stuff because I've worked with law enforcement and the trucking industry, both in and out of the military. You can read more about the ten-codes at Wikipedia.

"What's Your 20?" is a travel website that provides localized information on events, attractions, and activities based on your current location. That's a feature that isn't working for me, probably due to my poor connection. You can search for other locations but from what I can see, most of it's in the United States. Of course, that's to be expected since the website is based in the United States and also because it's still in beta status. I did a search for Asia, where I am, and didn't come up with much at all.

There are currently 134,535 locations on file, a number that can only get larger as more people get involved with the website. Members can build travel itineraries, create travel journals and manage photo albums. Members can also write reviews for any location. The page, "Trip to Black Hills of South Dakota" is a featured travel journal by one of the members. If you have the time to spare, this is something I'd recommend getting involved in. It doesn't cost anything at all except your time.
