A Glitch In The Matrix Or Is Google Just Not Done Screwing With PageRanks Yet?

After reading Chris Lodge's latest observation about his PageRank (PR) dropping from 5 to 3 (just days after rising from 4 to 5), I decided to see what was going on with my own blog.

I read somewhere a few weeks ago that you could check the PR for internal pages at livepr.info. I did that at the time and that's when I saw that all my PR 4 pages had been reduced to PR 3. Last week, I checked again and I had no pages above PR 2. The PR for my blog remained at 3.

I checked again a few minutes ago and everything started showing up as a PR 10! I knew something was wrong so I checked a few other sites that report on PR from the datacenters, including RankAlert. Everything showed up as zeros. Zeros? I know my blog sucks, but it doesn't suck that bad!

I then started checking other blogs that I frequently visit, the ones with a PR of 4 or higher, and got the same results for them. Is Google just being wonky right now, are they changing the API to defeat these website services, or am I imagining things?

On another note, I don't know what Google really did with the PR changes. I don't think anyone outside of the Googleplex does. Even though my PR dropped from a 4 to a 3, my Google search engine traffic doubled. Could it be the result of Google penalizing those that have been gaming the system?

Update: The first website I mentioned started working again a minute ago, but the second is still not reporting correctly. I'm not rewriting anything and Google can still kiss my ass.

   Luckily for me, not a single page on my new website has been ranked over 0!! Unless they start ranking in the negatives, things can only look up for me from here lol.

   Actually after just checking livepr.info, all of my internal pages have a rank of 10… guess this means im officially awesome (i wish).

   Thanks for posting about the way to check subpages at the site. I had been looking for just that function. Yikes, still a lot of zeros at our site and not too many 3's. Ah well, there's always next year.

   I have been jumping around too. I have been Page Rank 3 for quite a while so I was pleased to see I had got to 4 and decided it was a good time to earn a little money off my blog. So imagine my chagrin yesterday to see I had been bumped to a 2. If the pay to blog companies weren't such slaves to Google it would be a lot better.

   I'm getting NaN (not a number) for my blog at the moment when I check the pagerank. I still get a lot of traffic from google though. I think it is a glitch or that google has changed the API which is confusing all these sites.

   On the other hand, personally I'm using Yahoo Search of late. As a matter of principle I'm avoiding google and Yahoo search is actually turning up more relevant links in the first couple of pages.

   I have two blogs bother were pr3, dropped down to pr2 and right now I got nuttin!! Just have to wait and see I guess.

   I think pagerank is a big scam and google has done more damage to its engine by introducing it to the public. Focus on content and everything else will follow.

      Page Rank is not a scam. Google provides the best search results even though page rank is falling. Page Rank is not the only factor determining the search position, there are more than 100 factors and PR is just ONE of them. My sites never went into any sort of link exchanges, got links for forums and social bookmarking and it has a good PR. Recently it fell down but I am not worrying much about it because the search result position for the keywords is still the same.

    Something strange is going on - the tools are not really working - check a microsoft site and they have a pr of zero.

    Whatever it is they're doing, it's all a mess heh. It would be interesting if Yahoo suddenly announced that they would make their internal ranking system available for download as a toolbar.
