Tech36

Okay, I really like this theme. It looks like a technology theme and it goes along perfectly with the content of Tech36. The sidebar widget headers look unique as I haven't seen that style anywhere else and I've looked at a LOT of blogs.

This is an incredibly new blog, started on October 16th according to the author, Prathik. While there's no advertising on it (yet), I see a few problems with the blog that Prathik needs to fix. The first is the author byline. If you're going to use an author byline, you need to change it from the default of "admin" to something else. Keeping a blog simple is one thing, but leaving the author byline as admin just smacks of the term "newbie", and that's not the impression you want to give prospective readers. The second is the duplicate "About" page locations. One is in the header and one is in the right sidebar. He needs to choose one or the other.

I looked and looked and I still didn't find any contact information anywhere. A reader shouldn't have to post a comment to make contact. While a contact page is preferable, an obfuscated email link somewhere easily spotted would work just as well.

Something I noticed while reading about the ImTOO 3GP Video Converter is that Prathik isn't linking to the software and information that he's referencing. That's a practice he needs to take up. An interested reader shouldn't have to fire up a search engine to find what he's talking about and that's exactly what I had to do. There's also another valuable piece of information missing from the article: Is it free or does it cost money? This particular converter costs USD $29.00.

Prathik's desire for this blog is to keep it technologically-oriented while keeping it simple. He's succeeding in both, but needs to correct some minor deficiencies. He's beefing up the blog rapidly and already averages two articles per day, and that's a great start. I look forward to seeing what it looks like in three to six months, during the crucial beginning phase.
