I Got Slapped By Google Too!

As I recently wrote in "Is Google Evil Now?", we all saw many of the popular blogs suddenly losing Google PageRank, supposedly due to having paid links on their blogs. This blog was spared from the first round, but not the second as I saw it changed from a PR of 4 to 3 today.

I wouldn't have looked at all had Andy Beard not mentioned it. You know, it seems disingenuous of Google to arbitrarily reduce PageRanks when pages added since March haven't been ranked at all. Is this the prelude to a massive update? I guess we'll find out in a few days.

What a load of bull. If google think any form of advertising (paid links) is evil, then maybe they should follow their own philosophy and dump AdSense and Adwords.
I'm sure a case of anti-competitive and monopolistic business practices can be made out against this new fat bully of the internet. Their practices smack of unethical business and they are bullying people into accepting only their own way or get dumped to SEO hell.

The only advertising we have on ours is Adsense, and our pagerank just dropped from 3 to 2.

  The pagerank drops of the blogs linking to yours has that effect. I only hope it settles down to some form of normalcy soon.
