This is my first Fair Review Project blog review. Go easy on me. The blog I chose to review this time is titled "Grumpy Old Matt".
I chose to review this blog because of the title. When someone puts "old" in the title, I'm naturally curious about how old they really are. Imagine my surprise when I went to Matt's blog and looked at his profile page (same as an "about" page) and found out he was only 18-years old! Old is a contradiction in terms for this guy. I don't feel old and I'll be 47-years old next month. I also have no idea why he chose to use "grumpy" in his title either. Perhaps it's because he's aspiring to be a political leader sometime in the future. That would make anyone grumpy.
Matthew's blog is about four months old. It's so new, you can still smell the freshness. I don't think he should be displaying the feed count on his blog yet. When I looked at it, it said "25 readers". When you have less than 100 readers, I think displaying the FeedBurner chicklet does more harm than good. A casual web surfer might mistake it for a lack of popularity and move on, possibly quicker than usual. At least Matt has the things below the header that I always look for, including the contact page. It's a sign that he's expecting more readers and that's always a good thing.
I spent a few minutes going through some of his old posts to see what the content was like. Most of the entries could use a little more "meat" in them, in my opinion, but then who am I. My blog is a personal one, just like his. I stopped at the post where he described how he had a bad day and I tried to watch the video he pointed to. It wasn't my cup of tea, so to speak, so I closed it after a few seconds of music and singing I couldn't get into.
This is an interesting, personal blog. I like personal blogs because a personal blog is, borrowing from Forrest Gump, "like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get."
