I received an email message from one of the finalists: Shelley Batts of Retrospectable: A Neuroscience Blog. Unfortunately, it was sitting in my spam folder for a week (half of my contact form email ends up there). Luckily, I found it before it was too late.

CollegeScholarships.org is collecting votes for the 2007 round of its $10,000 blogging scholarships. Shelley is trailing at number 2. Working toward a PhD in Neuroscience, her thesis is related to a cure for deafness.

I'm not asking you to vote for her (although I did), but I would like you to take a look at her blog and the poll itself. There are 20 bloggers involved and there's some excellent reading from young and bright minds. Helping one of them win the scholarship is almost as nice as giving them the money ourselves.
