I sometimes wonder what the networks are thinking. "Quantum Leap" was easily one of the best series on television when it was canceled in 1993. I guess it just wasn't bringing in the almighty advertising dollars.
I recently finished watching all of season 1 on DVD. Back in 1989, I was in the military and I missed a lot of television. While watching season 1, there were three episodes I had never seen, even as repeats in syndication. Scott Bakula did a much better job in the lead role in this series than the later "Enterprise" of the Star Trek franchise.
The story started off with Sam Beckett in the chamber and Al heading to the facility to find out what was going on. From that point forward, Sam leaps in and out of bodies of people who had lived during his lifetime, changing history in the process. Many episodes were very well done while some were not very good. That's to be expected of any series, not only this one.
