It's Alive. IT'S ALIVE!

I recently wrote about my dead microwave oven. I didn't know the cause, but the keypad stopped working completely. I didn't know how to fix it.

After I discovered it didn't work, I unplugged the beast. Lo and behold, when I plugged it back in this morning, everything worked as it should. Perhaps I just needed to let the capacitor drain. Perhaps a surge of electricity brought it back to life. I have no earthly idea.

Perhaps an electronics guru will read this one day and explain to me exactly what happened. In the meantime, I'm leaving it unplugged until I actually need to use it for something.

  Would you believe that "poltergeist" is used as a swear word here in the Philippines? I didn't believe it myself until I heard it used as such on several occasions.

I hope I have similar luck with our desktop system. Unfortunately after we recently got it fixed, the motherboard seems to have conked out again I've had to use my laptop now for almost a week.

  I feel for you. Motherboards crap out for absolutely no reason it seems. It's usually cheaper to buy a compatible replacement than trying to fix it.

    Unfortunately the MB is quite old (4-5 years almost) and those kind of boards no longer are available.
    
    If I buy a new one, I'll have to replace everything from the hard disk (the old ones are IDE, newer boards have only SATA) and RAM and even the graphics card and so on.
    
    In short, buy a new machine …

I'd try and sell it as demonic possession or something…. I wonder what you could get on eBay for a formerly possessed microwave….
