I and my son watched "Transformers" a few days ago on DVD. He saw most of it (he walked in when the kid was getting the car) at the local theater, but I didn't go. There's only one local theater and it was packed.

I read about it on IMDB after watching it and some people complained of product placement. To be honest, I didn't notice. It was great film! I watched a few episodes of the cartoon when my kids were growing up and I didn't expect it to be any better than that, but it was. Not bad for a story based on a line of toys, in my own very humble opinion.

This version of the story is better than the original that I remember. The good guys, the Autobots, have to stop the bad guys, the Decepticons, from getting the "allspark" (however it's spelled) and creating a new race of robots on Earth. They succeed, of course, or it wouldn't be the story I'd expect at all. I would be disappointed. I definitely wasn't disappointed. I enjoyed it from beginning to end.

"Transformers" stars Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, a bunch of CGI robots and other people, here's a trailer:
