I will be offline until I can fix this laptop and my DSL service is restored to normal.
The laptop is shutting down on its own due to heat issues. There's probably a half inch of dust clogging the CPU fan because it no longer turns. I don't have the proper tools here and have to intercept my nephew (who has my tools) before he heads to work. The tool set includes everything from small screw drivers to star bits, so I shouldn't have a problem getting this apart. Also, a vertical pink line has appeared on the display which is a sign of a dirty GPU or a loose edge connector. I'm pretty sure it's the dust. This whole house is dusty at times.
My DSL service connection has progressively become worse every day since the last long power outage. They have a "job order" scheduled because they believe the line is grounded. I have no idea, but I'm willing to bet the DSL modem is whacked due to power spikes and such.
If my laptop won't stay on, then I can't get online to do the things I normally do. I can't use my son's laptop because it has software issues and the display is whacked. I won't even mess with it because he wouldn't listen to me when I told him to leave the crap video games off of it (the ones he gets from friends that have viruses playing piggyback). If my DSL connection isn't fixed, I can't get online anyway.
Anyway, I have to go… I have to intercept my nephew early this morning.
