If you've read some of my past articles about switching web hosts, you'll know that I switched twice within two months. People talk so much about wanting to make money, then you post a way to save money and only one comment?! Well, it's still kinda early, but I would think more people would jump on this. Good post.

It seems like a pretty legit offer. It's that same old question though, will you use all of the bandwidth and space they are offering? The average site only needs something like 5GB.

  5. 3500GB of bandwidth – that's a LOT. I wonder if push came to shove though – could it handle such a large amount of bandwidth? We host dedicated servers and the average uses around 100GB a month. It's not that which would kill the server (bandwidth) but the corresponding amount of CPU usage that would likely kill a server. If one of our servers was 35 times busier, I'm not sure it could cope! Then again, it depends on the nature of the bandwidth usage. If you're hosting movie files, this has less strain on a server than 3500GB worth of bandwidth downloading e-commerce listing pages.

Interesting way to get more customers. They must know if people like the hosting service they will stay a customer. I like the script installers alot of hosting companies now offer them and it makes it so easy to install most scripts or anything else you need to.

  8. I will not say that free hosting is bad, but there are some drawbacks you should take into consideration. You get a very little control over your hosting environment. Most of the free hosting providers will force you to place third-party advertisements on your web pages. Also, features are quite limited compare to a paid hosting. You get only a small amount of disk space and bandwidth and technical support is almost non-existent. Due to such disadvantages, free hosting is ideal for small personal websites.

In comparison to free hosting, paid hosting provides you more flexibility and control along with a variety of packages to choose from. You will have access to more disk space and bandwidth along with a dedicated technical staff. Some features ranges from powerful databases and dynamic programming languages to multiple email accounts and free domain names. These are features you just won’t find in a free hosting.

The only thing that a paid host may have over some of the free hosts that I've used is a free domain with your hosting and, maybe, ssh access.

My hosting with a free host was light years better than the last two paid hosts that I used. In my experience, affordable hosts that will actually be on the other end of a support ticket are a rare find. Luckily, after being ripped off by only two VERY BAD hosts, I found a reasonably priced one that treats me like a valued customer.

The only thing that my free host from before didn't have that my paid host has is ssh and the domain price included in the hosting. Sure, I get more disk space, but my site's not very big. Every other feature was there and as plentiful on the free host.
