This blog review is probably not going to be fair. I've been all over Steve's blog, cymru66, in the past month. Nevertheless, he needs a "shot in the arm" to keep him motivated.
I don't want to get into the appearance of Steve's blog because it looks perfectly fine to me in all aspects. Reading through a lot of his articles, it's obvious he has a passion for running. I didn't know it was a big thing in Wales until I started reading his blog and the articles about the marathons. It's not the only thing he writes about, as evidenced by his Find The Face In The Coffee Beans, Find The Face: The Sequel and Find The Face: The Threequel articles.
One thing that struck me as strange is that Steve put his contact "link" in the meta area of the right sidebar. I went up and down the sidebar several times before I found it. I think it should be up higher where it will be more prominent and easier to find. In fact, I think he should switch to using a contact page, if only to cut down the spam coming through that link. I recommend Contact Form II because that's what I use. I haven't received any spam through it at all (of course, that doesn't mean I won't).
I couldn't find an "about" page anywhere. Steve, how's a person supposed to get to know you when they first start reading your blog? That's what an "about" page is for. It's also one of the most frequently visited pages on a blog — trust me, my stats show mine being viewed at least twice a day.
Regardless of the reason he blogs, Steve has a whole bunch of interesting stuff to read. You can get lost there for hours if you don't watch yourself. I think narrowing his main focus to two or three topic areas would cause his blog to propel itself upwards in popularity, without any help from anyone else.
