Under three months old, Debo Hobo dot Com already has a wealth of travel-related articles. The generous use of embedded videos and pictures help to convey the information presented. Although the tagline is "The Ramblings of a Wannabe Dot Com Mogul", this blog is focused mainly on travel. I try to spend an hour or less at a time at any one blog regardless of how well I like it, but it's sometimes hard to do. This is one of those blogs where I easily got wrapped up for more than an hour.

The blog is not without problems, which can be expected with blogs this new.

  • There's a reason that newspapers have always used black on white — for readability. This blog is using light colors on a dark background. The font size appears to be 10 pixels, and I find that readable on my son's monitor set at 1024×768 but very difficult on my own with a higher resolution. Font sizes should be set using point sizes (i.e. 10pt) as opposed to pixel sizes (i.e. 10px). 10pt is readable at 1024×768 and higher. The light color on the dark background doesn't make the current font size any easier to read.
  • The Google AdSense ads blend in nicely, but the BidVertiser ads on the older posts are very obtrusive and clash with the color scheme.
  • If a blog has both an "about" page and a "contact" page, it makes the blog more personable. I could find neither on this blog. Anonymity is fine, but I couldn't tell you whether the author is male or female based on how it's written.
  • It pays to check your articles from time to time. The very first article on the blog, Aruba for You-ba has a problem. The text is a dark color and I'm pretty sure it wasn't intentional.

Even with its shortcomings, I find that Debo Hobo dot Com has enough travel-related information to keep people interested and I recommend it for people who like to be "on the go" a lot.
