I've just spent a couple of hours going over the website at SmarterReviews.com. What differentiates this website from other websites that offer consumer electronic product reviews? Not only is each product rated overall, but each feature of each product is rated. The ratings include bad as well as good reviews. A specific product doesn't have a one-sided rating unless the individual reviews support it.

As with other product review websites, I expected the interface to be rather clunky. Not so at all. Even on my slow DSL connection, everything moved along as smooth as glass. The pictures changed with every link without any lag, which is something I really didn't expect. I like the algorithms they use to suggest matching products based on individual reviews. It makes searching for the best products incredibly easy. My wife is looking for a good laptop computer and the default requirement of 5 ratings listed one she has been thinking about in the top 10. I noticed when I bumped the ratings requirement up, the Apple MacBooks started dominating the listings. Apple laptops are a little out of our price range.

The search facility does a quick and painless job of finding what I'm looking for. I want to buy a DivX-capable DVD player to play all the DivX-compatible .avi files I've been creating and copying to blank DVDs. I did a search for "divx" and eight players popped right up. Armed with some brand names and features based on SmarterReviews.com product reviews, I intend to order one real soon.

On top of having a quick and easy to use website, there's even a SmarterReviews.com Affiliate Program where you can earn 85 percent of their commissions, which isn't bad at all.
