In response to my articles, Blog Tip: Comply With Google AdSense Restrictions On Your WordPress Index Page and Blog Tip: Don't Display Google AdSense Within Sponsored Posts On Your WordPress Blog, Alexandru sent me a message about a plugin on his blog called the Shylock Adsense Plugin for WordPress.
Here's how it works: You can enter up to 10 different AdSense code blocks on the options page. You can then specify which block goes where on each page. It supports the limit of three AdSense blocks on the index/front page and also lets you specify the post IDs (which you can find by way of the manage/posts area of the administration menu) to exclude. It works perfect to limit three to the index page and skipping specified posts, like sponsored posts where you're not supposed to have any other advertising on them.
The plugin also supports the option to change the AdSense codes for older posts. That way, regular readers can be treated to less aggressive ads while those that arrive via search engines and other means can get the full exposure.
I'm testing the plugin now and it seems to work as advertised (pun intended) but I probably won't continue to use it because I like to get my fingers dirty by editing the theme files directly. The direct method allows me to tweak the placements and to account for other plugins that get in the way.
(Update 2007-08-11: I'm going to continue to use the plugin. I found it was easier to change the plugin than to change my theme files!)

We had another massive power outage here in Olongapo City. Besides the number of half-hour and one-hour outages that always seem to occur, this started at 10:30 pm last night. The power was out until 11:30 pm. Then it was on for 30 minutes and I thought I could continue to get things done. I was on Yahoo voice with my wife when it cut off again. This time it was for 19 hours! Oh, it popped back on twice during the day, once for 15 minutes and once for less than 5 minutes.
I think the local electric company is the worst in existence, but that's only MY opinion.
Anyway, I'm trying to catch up on email responses and various other messages as I type. I should be caught up soon, God willing and the power staying on.
