I Finally Joined BUMPzee!

Months ago, after I added a "dofollow" plugin prompted by reading Andy Beard's Ultimate List of DoFollow & Nofollow Plugins – Banish Nofollow From Comments and Trackbacks, Andy recommended that I join the "No Nofollow | I Follow | DoFollow Community" at BUMPzee!. I held off on it because I was spreading myself too thin with all the social sites I had already joined. I still didn't join after reading his article, DoFollow | No Nofollow – Highs & Lows.

I read a comment on my blog from Boris at Ecoshopper.net in June and still didn't join BUMPzee at the time. I've heard nothing but good things about BUMPzee.

I don't know what prompted me to do it, but I finally joined a few hours ago. After I joined, I noticed a lot of familiar avatars in the discussion threads. My avatar is nothing to write home about, but at least it's a picture of me. I took it myself, so cut me some slack.

I took all the JavaScript widgets off the sidebar of my blog but I plan to put some of them back on the blog, but at the bottom of the footer this time. That way, misbehaving widgets won't affect the rest of the display. I'm not sure which BUMPzee widget I'll put there yet, but I'll be putting something in later today.

The no nofollow community has now grown to be the 2nd largest there, and whilst the affiliate community looks much larger, I dare say the dofollow members might be close to the same level of activity.

I would suggest using the plugin, and include both the voting widget and the main sidebar widget.

The amount of traffic you get from these sites is proportional to how much you promote them.

It doesn't take many regular Bumpzee users votong on your content to get it showing in the top listings, and I recieve almost as much bumpzee traffic to my pages as I do from close to 500 subscribers using Google Reader.

Glad you've joined and thanks for the write up.

Do let us know if you have problems installing the widgets and I look forward to seeing you around.

I have also removed the 'nofollow' attribute from the post and comments templates in Blogger.

RT, that is a great idea to move the slow loading widgets to the footer! I might end up doing that as well as MBL sometimes just really slows up the loading. Especially in my theme where the sidebar loads before the main content!

I took all mine off because my page loaded so slowly. It's better now. I think I've joined everyone that's out there. Some are not that great.

  6. Good decision

I joined too and even though I don't really know what I am doing or the ends and outs of Bumpzee I can say that my traffic has increased and I just joined yesterday.

Thanks for helping me get the Do Follow working BTW
