Blog Drive-Bys for 2007-07-24

I'm getting there. I've made it to May 19, 2007 in my blog comments. It should only be a matter of days before I make it to July as along as I stay on the same track and look for new commenters. There are some new and some old commenters (due to connectivity issues) in today's…

Brown Baron wrote his review of "Frostwire" at Brown Thoughts. Frostwire is a peer-to-peer application which combines features similar to "Limewire" and includes an integrated torrent client along with firewall to firewall transfer, iTunes integration, junk result filters, and proxy support. I think I'll stick with just plain µTorrent because it uses very little memory.

I've had at least one taker on my Link Baiting for the Page Rank Update offer. The text I placed at the bottom of A Lazy Day from June 18, 2006, was: As far as blogging is concerned, July 23, 2007, was a lazy day for El Gigante Verdoso, at least until Devin (another blog author) made a comment on his blog and recommended him to check out a band. His blogger account did not ping my blog, so I put two links on there.

Ryan of Ryan444123.com linked to a story at the Herald Sun where two Germans decided to use a wheelchair for a joyride. The rider suffered serious injuries when the wheelchair hit the closed elevator doors that gave way upon impact. Color both of them stupid.

Weng at WengOnline posted a trailer for the movie, "A Love Story", written by a friend of his. I've been in the Philippines too long! I recognized the Filipino actresses and actor, Maricel Soriana, Angelica Panganiban, and Aga Muhlach. The film doesn't air until August 15th. All three performers are excellent — as long as you understand the language. :-)

Elizabeth at MomReviews asks if we have a Zwinky. Skimming through the article, I can tell she likes the toolbar for it. Check out the "Borg" smiley. I want one of those for this blog (but not THAT big).

Prudence at PinoyBlogoSphere.com pointed to a news article about rich nations draining medical professionals from the poor ones. It's sad and it's true. In the Philippines, after graduating from nursing schools, the nurses are required to work in Philippine hospitals for a mere three years before they can get visas to go to countries that pay much more. There is an incredible shortage here, even after the government created the three-year delay.

Marco posted his ultimate link building resource list at FitforFreedom. This list, along with previous lists he published, should keep you and I busy for a long time.

I don't have an account at Facebook, and after reading what Andrew at Legal Andrew wrote about it, I probably never will. And he only covered the parts of the terms of service and the privacy policy that jumped out at him!

Micki wrote about her love of men at My Rearview Mirror. I briefly skimmed it. What really caught my eye wasn't the article. It was the banner she's using for her header now. I haven't physically visited her blog since she had the old one up (just reading feeds). A nice bridge view and it looks familiar, but I can't seem to place it.

Alamster posted some error messages while updating ClamAV at Learning On Demand. Wow! I really have spent too much time away from Unix and Linux. I completely forgot about those verbose error messages — the kind you can't get from Windows.

RT – I have a photo credit wwwwaaayyy down there in the footer. The photo in the banner is of the Crescent City Connection Bridge between Algiers and New Orleans, Louisiana.
Should I take that as criticsm? My post didn't catch your attention, but the pretty lights did!
 Men – I love 'em anyway.
