I'm a Police Music Fan

I have been a fan of The Police since the early eighties when I first heard them on the radio. I collected all their music on cassette tapes (you remember those, right?) and then later on compact disc. As my older son grew up, he borrowed a lot of my music to listen in his room and all of the discs eventually got scratched and unplayable. As much as I loved their music, I couldn't picture myself hunting down and buying the CDs all over again. Imagine my surprise when I found out a new album was released on June 5, 2007, called "The Police: The Definitive Police Collection". It contains 28 of the best tracks The Police ever recorded in a 2-CD set.

   I never liked this band… ever… I put them right below The Who and the Rolling Stones in my "bands I do not like" list.

      Well, Steve, you and I differ in this. I was 20 years old in 1980 and their stuff was some of the best. I didn't like "The Who", but I did like "The Guess Who". Rolling Stones? The early work was good (60's, 70's), but not the later stuff.

   I did enjoy some of Sting's later solo work…

   I think part of my dislike for those "great" bands stems from the fact that "classic rock" stations play the same set of 120 songs everyday! Yeah, I used to love the Eagles but now, when I hear the first chord or two of Hotel California on the radio I change stations!

   One of my local stations has the "no repeat work day". I called them and asked if they would do a "no repeat work week"… They declined.

   Not bad Richard, but what I don't like (and maybe you have to have it) is the TinyURL. I never click them as I don't know where they are pointing. I always assume it is something a bit crooked if it is trying to be masked this way.

   BTW, I think the early Police stuff was good but later on not so.

      Yes, the TinyURLs are part of the requirements.

      The members of The Police went their separate ways before a whole lot of albums were released. Sting, the lead singer, went on to solo recordings and acting. The former band is going on tour next year to play all the former hits and may be adding new stuff to the mix.

   RT - the concert in New Orleans last weekend was great. They put on a better show now than they did twenty years ago. The acoustics in the New Orleans arena are awful, but it didn't matter - the sold out crowd knew every word to every song and we sang them all. There were times when Sting just gave it up to the the crowd. You know what made me feel old though? Sting's son's band Fiction Plane was the opening act - Sting's 30 year old son. yeesh. My husband and I are really enjoying the CD, we had a similar collection of very worn out ones.
