Starting With Sponsored Posts

Tomorrow (my tomorrow, not yours) I will be doing my first sponsored post from PayPerPost. It's only natural that I should start with them because I signed up with them around the beginning of May. I didn't sign up with others because of my PayPal problem (which has since been rectified).

I'll be signing up with SponsoredReviews.com, Smorty and Bloggerwave in the next few days. Is there a good one that I missed? Please let me know.

I want to make sure my position on this is clear, like it is with the Google Ads. I don't need the money, at least not for myself. My monthly pension covers all of my expenses. Recently, however, my pension has been tapped to the maximum due to family emergencies (including my own). Having some extra cash available can come in handy for times like this. Being involved with a wide variety of opportunities could also put me in a position where my wife won't be tempted to take a second trip to the US just to build up money for the things she wants done yesterday.

I'm proceeding with caution. I've seen some atrocious blogs that seem to have sponsored posts as their only content. Nothing will cause me to make a u-turn faster than a blog like that. I don't want the same thing to happen to my blog.

   Good luck with it RT, it's well worth it and can be a bit of fun when you get an interesting opp. I've made nearly $2000 out of PPP now, and although I went a little OT at the start, I'm happy with it now.

   There are also ReviewMe, Blogitive, LoudLaunch and Blogsvertise, but in my experience PPP will outperform all of the others put together for number and quality of opps.

   I'm glad you hear that you aren't going to be a PPP whore. It turns me off too. You will do it in good taste, there's no doubt about that.

   I too visit Peter and well understand how he makes us think even when we don't want to. He is a must read for me everyday. Have a great day RT.

   Paid reviews don't worry me so much except when I read a 'review' on , say, mortgage loans and the site is about tech stuff.
   People should at least review stuff that is a little to do with their site. I have stopped going to a few sites because of this.

   I'm curious. What is the requirement to be a paid blogger? Do I need a credit card or something.

   (I have paypal account without a credit card # - is that enough?)

      If you have a PayPal account and can get the money to your bank, that is all you need.

   Just keep the sponsored spots in moderation. Once you see the offers compared to what they pay you will be self-moderating in no time!

   I have plenty of offers to do paid posting on my blogs but 95% are not worth it to me.

   You don't need to explain your actions. Everyone uses a few extra bucks. Everyone wants few extra bucks. So take your time and enjoy writing. The money will eventually come.

      Not for newer readers, I agree. But for people who have been reading regularly for a long time, I really do. I have never been a proponent of sponsored posts and they know it.

    A blog with at least 60% sponsored content turns me off.

       You won't see more than 25 percent here, if that much. I had 12 opportunities available from PayPerPost and only took one. I don't plan to take another for a few days. I also clearly mark them as sponsored posts so that uninterested people can skip right on over them. I think that's fair and considerate.

    Normally, I don't like using my time to write a sponsored post, because they don't pay enough to make it "worth my while".

    Unless they pay good money, I can rarely spare the time.

    RT's case may be different, money goes a lot farther in the Philippines than it does here in the States. His $5 made on a post can buy much more over there…I believe.
