Invasion of Iraq? What about the Invasion of the US?

I spotted a smaller picture of the one below over at Comedy Plus. Mine is a thumbnail of a slightly larger picture:

Meximerica

The very vocal, left-leaning liberals in the US have been whining about the Iraq invasion since the day it happened. They continue to whine about what's going on over there. I don't understand them. We had a less visible, and less violent, invasion take place in the US and the invasion is still in progress. It's strange that the same liberals that screech about the US-Iraq conflict welcome the invaders with open arms. According to statistics, there are more illegal aliens presently in the US than all of the Americans that have been in both Iraq and Afghanistan since those conflicts started. Many, many more. We don't belong in Iraq, they say. Bring the troops home, they say. In the same light, kick the illegal Mexicans out of the US, I say!

They say a picture speaks a thousand words. That picture speaks volumes. Illegal aliens, crossing the border from Mexico, are able to collect benefits that many real Americans can't even qualify for. There is one location (which I will not name because I don't want those that don't know about it to know about it, if you understand what I mean) where illegal aliens can get free medical and dental care courtesy of the local government. Care that real Americans have to pay for.

California politicians, in particular, love illegal aliens. Why is that you might wonder? Because it's illegal to ask for identification when registering to vote and when voting in California (I know I was never asked for ID in Arizona). There are enough illegals in California alone to tip an election in the favor of any politician that panders to them.

Before I left Arizona in 2006, I heard a startling statistic on the radio. More than 50 percent of the residents of the metro Phoenix area were either Mexican-Americans or illegal aliens from Mexico. As the number of people from that particular ethnic group increases, it's more than likely that the majority of Americans at some time in the future will be of Mexican descent.

A rose by any other name is still a rose (I misquoted on purpose). An invasion by any other name is still an invasion.

This is one American issue that I struggle to get my head around. Our immigration issues in Australia are just so different. I'm amazed at the notion that non-citizens can vote. We have compulsory voting here which I suppose makes our system technically undemocratic, and we have to enroll to vote with proof of identity. I enjoyed this one as usual RT.

Illegal immigration is a very sensitive at the same time a very political issue.

In our state of West Bengal, there are thousands of Bangladeshi illegal citizens entering our country and posing a serious security threat. Yet, because of the communist regime in that state, they are soft towards this issue because they are "vote-banks".

It seems to be the same everywhere.

At the same time, you have to admit there are some genuine refugees who come from oppressed regimes and they deserve to be inducted into society.

    How true, how true…

It reminds me of a good email forward that I just received from a friend. It's called, "Try This Experiment".

    Try this experiment:
Put a bird feeder in your yard and fill it with bird seed.
It doesn't take long before the birds learn that a free meal is in the offing. They come by the hundreds.
Now, empty the feeder. What happens? No more birds.

Take away the free medical care.
    Take away the free schooling.
    Take away the free welfare.

    What happens? No more illegals.
    WOW!! What a simple solution!

No need for a border fence at the cost of hundreds of millions of tax dollars.
Do you think this could work?
    Let's pass these thoughts around.

  4. The analogy is flawed. Illegals would still keep coming because of the relatives that are already established here. Plus, there are still people hiring illegals.

Birds, on the other hand, need no jobs or someone to house them.

  5. hari says:

Well, I do think your analogy to "invasion" is a bit over the top though. After all, those Mexicans didn't drop tonnes of bombs (as the US did in Iraq) over your houses before landing up there. :P

It's a sensitive issue. As I said, I prefer not to debate on such issues. It upsets my day.

  6. In order for people to understand the severity of a situation, you have to use analogies like this. There would be less Mexicans living in the United States today if a real, armed invasion HAD taken place. Which one affects the economy more?

  7. hari says:

I guess I can understand your anger against "liberals" if they're anything like the "secularists" in India. Being a patriotic Indian is nearly impossible in this climate because the "secular" politicians in our country couldn't care less about our national integrity and security and are more intent on searching for vote-bank and playing with minority politics. It's a dangerous game they are playing.

  8. Boltzmann says:

In a sense, an armed invasion did take place, resulting in the annexation of Texas, and which is why the South-West is part of the United States and not Mexico. So, it seems like the population ethnicity is just going back to what it used to be prior to the US-Mexico war. I think the main reason I'd like to see the illegal immigration issue tackled is so these people aren't exploited as workers and cheap labor.

In Switzerland you can't work in the country unless you have a job before entering and you must provide proof of insurance to ensure you're not going to be pulling down the health-care system. Given how much security there is now with people just changing planes in the States, it's really amazing that the illegal immigration issue is side-stepped so much.

  9. Natron says:

Boltzmann, completely right about annexation of Texas.

The one thing we are all forgetting is that nearly 20 million people in the US are not documented. To alienate and criminalize them will do nothing to deal with the issue.

More than 50 percent of the residents of the metro Phoenix area were either Mexican-Americans or illegal aliens from Mexico. As the number of people from that particular ethnic group increases, it's more than likely that the majority of Americans at some time in the future will be of Mexican descent.

One out of 3 Americans are a minority, deal with it. In reality you also are diluting the gene pool of another country, touche ;)

  10. Natron, you made an assumption that isn't there. I said it was startling statistics, not alarming. But you didn't quote that part, so I'm assuming you skimmed past that. I don't personally care what ethnic groups are where. I'm married to a Filipina and my son is a mestizo.

Annexation of Texas? Please, go back far enough and you can point out how the Mexicans are more Spanish than anything else!

The illegal immigrant invasion is akin to the practice of cooking a frog: You put them in the water while it is cold and gradully raise the heat. Before they know it they have been boiled alive.

Because some areas of the USA are allowing to these people to vote they will eventualy vote themselves into a new country or something!

I'm all for legal immigration. If your first act in this country is to break our laws by coming in illegaly then you do not deserve to be here.

It's official folks…RT has lost his sense of humor. :-(

  13. Humor? What's that? Hey, there's a plugin I recommend. I'm testing it now and will shoot you an email shortly.

  14. Matthew Jabs says:

    On a serious note…

    I agree with Steve,

If your first act in this country is to break our laws by coming in illegaly then you do not deserve to be here.

Also, I'm with RT on being sickened by the fact that,

Illegal aliens, crossing the border from Mexico, are able to collect benefits that many real Americans can't even qualify for.

You know what else pisses me off? The fact that illegal immigrants are marching on our capitol, demanding rights, etc. You know what should be done. Someone should organize a big illegal immigrant march on the capitol (like a million man march or bigger), then arrest them all & deport them back to Mexico.

Does anybody have a bus that we could fit 1,000,000 or more Mexicans in? ;-)

I have no problem with Mexicans, but I do have a problem with illegal immigrants.

RT…Glad to see you post this. You should live in California if you want a real taste of illegal aliens (not immigrants) Immigrants are doing it right and welcome to America.

Here they march in the streets and carry Mexican flags and have signs that say "f**k the law". So, I have a very strong opinion about this issue.

Here is a shopping day…Go to any store, and I mean any store and you will see signs in Spanish and English. You may not hear a word of English either. I went through the mall a while back and only heard Spanish for a good hour or so.

Go to an emergency room and get in the back of the line. We pay, they don't for the most part. This list goes on and on.

We are not getting the upper class from Mexico, we are getting the lowest class of folks. Check out their caste system before you yell at me here. These folks that are crossing the border are uneducated. I didn't say dumb, I said uneducated. Many have no intention of learning English.

The first mission is to have an anchor baby and then claim if you deport them you break up their happy little home. Well how about the babies cannot be citizens if you are an illegal alien?

Our politico's aren't listening to the citizens of the U.S.A. There is too much pressure from big business that are hiring these aliens.

Three hispanics in this county bought vehicles here. All three were illegal aliens with stolen Social Security cards. Once they bought the vehicles they went to an attorney (scum-bag) in San Franciso and sued the auto dealership because the sales contract wasn't in Spanish. Can you believe this s**t? I don't even want to start with the criminal activity that has risen within the hispanic population. Then there are the gangs. There is tagging all over the place. Norte and Sur everywhere.

I'm madder than hell and it is an INVASION! :(
