I wrote a short article back on March 1st about living in Hawaii. Today, a person who was obviously not searching for it ended up reading it. She read it and then proceeded to call me a bigot, perhaps because I called the local people bigots. After a couple of comments that were exchanged, I grew tired of it and bid her a nice day.
I reread everything I wrote. Based on my article and on my comments, do you think I'm a bigot? Be honest. I think I wrote as objectively as I could considering that I was the one that was there in the 70s and 80s and had the experiences with the local people. I'm not the same person I was back then (nobody is after 30 years) but a lot of traumatic events occurred during that period that I didn't include and they are still vivid memories. Everything around them may be a haze, but not those specific incidents.
Our experiences help to shape us to be who we are and what we are. I wouldn't be the same person I am without the negative experiences I had. But that doesn't mean I want others to go through the same thing.
So, based entirely of what you know about me from the personal things that I have written in the past and particularly that article, give me your honest opinion as to whether it appeared that I was being a bigot. I promise I won't bite.
